Vehicle Detail
A very sharp car that runs and drives great!! Older correct Carnival Red and White paint. Good interior with new door panels and a very nice front and rear seat. Dash is in good condition with no cracking. All gauges work, heater works, original radio turns on. The 1500cc 4 cylinder Austin engine fires right up and runs great. Clutch holds strong and does not chatter, transmission shifts with ease, brakes work well. The body of these cars was designed by Pininfarina in Italy under contract by Nash in the early 50's hence the stylish design. They were built in England by Austin of British Leyland then imported to the US. Metropolitans were built from 1954 to 1962. If you notice, there is no access to the trunk from outside the car (by design). The trunk compartment is accessed from inside the car via removing the upper portion of the back seat. The paint on this car has some cracking on the passengers rear quarter panel but overall the paint is very presentable. The jambs have the original red paint. Both front and rear bumpers have been re-plated and are very nice . The grille is in very good condition and features a rare NOS grille emblem in mint condition. The recently installed tires with new correct hubcaps and trim rings really finish off the appearance of the car. The Met fires right up, first try, no matter the temperature outside. An affordable, fun, economical special interest car. The owner's manual, service manual, and parts catalog will accompany the car.
