1997 BMW 540i / 6 speed manual transmission!!! VIN: WBADE5324VBV91536 LOW RESERVE / READY TO SELL / HAPPY TO HELP SHIP!!! A very well maintained and documented sport sedan. I have owned and daily driven my dream car for the past year and have had an amazing ownership. Now with an ever-growing family and a need for a larger vehicle I must unfortunately sell. This vehicle has a free and clear Kentucky title and registration in my name and does not have any leans placed against it. My 97 540i/6 has a clean CARFAX report (which I will post on this ad on 12 Jan) and has no accident history. There are scratches and dents that are pictured that reflect its 20 years of daily driving duties! There are larger scratches on the front bumper are from a parking bollard and a dent on the driver's side lower panel from jacking during maintenance. The interior leather is in great condition. There are no tears or large imperfections. There are also no cracks in the dash and all of the heater and other interior controls work well. The sunroof has been recently greased, does not leak, and works as factory! All of the glass is OEM BMW and has the proper markings on each. The window controls all work as they should except for the drivers side rear. The window motor is receiving a signal but will not roll down. I believe it is the window actuator, a common problem on these models. As you will see on the vin decoder link below, the vehicle was equipped with both the cold weather and "Sport" packages from the factory. The seats are the rare black MANUAL adjustment (light weight) with adjustable thigh support and track-oriented bolstering! Both front seats are heated and work great! Also the steering wheel is heated as well and is a great function from a car over 20 years old! This vehicle, to my knowledge has never been smoked in, and has clean ash trays of course with no smell of smoke. The A/C blows cold and strong but the accessory belt is showing signs of wear and will require replacing. BMW VIN Decoder: bmwvin.com During my ownership I have replaced the valve chain guides and applicable gaskets from FCP Euro as a preventative measure due to there not being a record of the service being completed. I especially picked this exact year of vehicle due to the engine that it has. The M62B44 is a NON-VANOS engine!! This means that it engine does not have a variable valve system and is very easy to both service and replace engine parts as needed. Also its reliability is increased due to the lesser moving parts, and many dynos and online forums have determined that this engine is both more powerful as well as more fuel efficient than its later counterpart! The car starts great, idles smooth, has never overheated, and shifts smooth with no grinding from the famous Getrag transmission. I also replaced the REPLICA M-Parallels with OEM Style 82 rims and rear spacers (vehicle does come equipped with a serviceable spare wheel. I replaced the stock shifter with a BMW E60 Shifter and weighted ZHP knob from ECS Tuning. I have also replaced the spark plugs (NGK), fuel filter and have kept all of the fluids changed. Coolant: Zerex G48 50/50 antifreeze Transmission and Differential: Valvoline Products Oil / Filter: Rotella T6 / Mahle Brake Fluid: Pentosin Super DOT4 The previous owner (independent German vehicle tech) performed modifications including; Muffler delete (retaining the factory catalytic converters and silencer) Custom cold air intake Electric fan conversion Bluetooth amp and stereo (factory radio removed / unplugged and block off plate installed) Bilstein shocks and H&R lowering shocks Power steering delete (only requires pump / belt to restore to factory) LED Headlights and turn signals Complete LED interior light conversion (including the courtesy lights under the doors and trunk) The vehicle will come with extra fluids as well as (2) complete oil changes of product as well as a few spares. These vehicle are becoming amazingly rare, and as a great driving example it' a perfect way to enjoy a manual gearbox, V8 super sedan! Good luck bidding, Eric
