The wide fenders and separate headlight buckets made the car look like a natural continuation of the 993 model. Furthermore, by the 2006 production run, Porsche started building the “M97” engine, which eliminated the pesky issues with the rear main seal and IMS bearing. Also, the 997 S was no slouch. It’s 3.8L engine produced 355hp and 295 lb. ft. of torque. This was good to propel it from 0 to 60 in a scant 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 182 mph. Plus, it still sipped gas with 26 mpg on the highway. This Carrera S was built in March of 2008 and sold new on February17th, 2009 by Carlsen Porsche of Redwood City, California. This example was tastefully appointed with the following factory options: Self-dimming mirrors Heated front seats Wheel caps with colored crests Sport chrono package plus Navigation module for PCM Bose high end sound package Floor mats in interior color Stainless steel exhaust pipes Power seat package The total MSRP was $103,320 The first owners lived in Northern California and kept the car for 3-years/30k miles before trading it back into the local Porsche dealership. The car went through Porsche’s CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) process and was sold to a local owner who continued to service it through the local Porsche dealer. Besides the normal recommended services, the dealer also replaced the coolant reservoir and flushed the system. This Porsche was primarily used for daily commuting. It was never abused, regularly serviced, and always garaged. Furthermore, the 2nd owner was the current owner’s classmate at Caltech and groomsman in his wedding. So, they both knew it was a well-cared for example. The current owner come from a family of Porsche owners/PCA members. He purchased the car from his close friend in May of 2015 with 57k-miles. For the last 2-1/2 years/28k-miles, he has used this 997 S mostly as a daily commuter with a few longer weekend trips. It was always garaged and regularly serviced by Hergesheimer Motorsports (one of Orange County’s top independent Porsche specialists). Highlights of recent/significant services include: Frequent oil services/inspections (several times a year) Oil service, inspection, and alignment (@81k-miles/Aug 2017) New rear Pirelli tires (@80k-miles) Replaced clutch kit and flywheel (@79k-miles) Brakes – front and rear (@72k-miles) Major service (@63k-miles) Oil service Air, cabin, and fuel filter Replace drive belt 100-point inspection Bluetooth and Satellite radio adapter kit installed In total, over $14k was recently invested by the current owners in properly maintaining this Porsche. The exterior looks remarkable considering the age and miles. It is a testament to the care this 911 received. Most of the paint is original and verified with a paint meter. There has been some light touch up on the driver door and both bumpers have been repainted due to rock chips and scratches. The car is accident free with a clean AutoCheck report and has also been inspected. There are minimal signs of use. The glass is all original including the windshield. The soft top is original and fits/looks great. The rear glass window is perfect. The top does not leak or make wind noise. There are a few light/minor wear spots (see pics). The 19” wheels are in very nice shape as well with just a couple tiny curb rash spots. The rears are wearing new Pirelli tires. The front tires are near the wear indicator and will need to be replaced soon. The brakes have around 75% life remaining. The interior is equally as nice and even better than one would expect. The seats show just light wear with no tears, rips, or stains. The door panels, carpet, and headliner all look fresh. The dash is free of cracks. All the gauges, buttons, and other functions operate properly. The full power top mechanism easily opens and closes with a touch of one button. From a driving perspective, this Porsche feels fresh and crisp. It starts easily and has great throttle response and exhaust notes. The shifting is smooth with no grinding, slipping, or other issues. The brakes have excellent bite with no fading or pulling. This is a wonderful turn-key example that could easily be used on a daily basis. California registration is paid through February of 2018. This 997 S includes the original factory window sticker, an extra key, all recent service receipts, owner’s manuals, wind deflector (removable), and trunk kit (tools, wheel lock, air compressor, and unused factory tire inflation product). **Note: VIN and other numbers withheld to protect against fraud.
