Vehicle Detail

I'm selling this as a "project car"---because the turbo just went out 2 days ago and I don't need a commute car any longer for I started truck driving and I'm hardly ever home. So, it's time to let my "little baby" find itself a new home. :) I just discussed the replacement Turbo with a reputable TDI Guru and was quoted 600 labor and a brand-new OEM Turbo (shipped) on ebay is around $300 to $350. If you do it yourself...? Then you just got a great economical, dependable commute car for a fantastic buy! Just go onto for step by step instructions with Photos. Just the special mods on here add up to more than that... I will list the mods below... On a road trip I would get 48 to 51 MPG. Short trips---44 MPG. The complete 100,000 mile timing belt kit was put in by the TDI Guru 35,000 miles ago. 33,000 miles ago the same Guru changed the 5 Speed Manual Tranny fluid with additive. I had new Tires put on recently and I had already upgraded the wheels to the 04' Factory Aluminum Alloy's so everyone thinks it's an 04'. Engine cover included---it's off for you to see engine pic. It's approaching 350,000 miles however, when properly maintained (and this one has been) then that is nothing. I had one I previously owned and last I heard the Guru I sold it to was in the 600,000 range (exact same year and model and mods as this one---in fact he did all the mods and TM Belt Kits, etc... on both cars. Also technically they are 1999-1/2's---for they came out in the middle of the year so are the same as the 2000 models.) I recently replaced the engine cooling fans on it, and had a new rear caliper and brakes installed... The car needs a good detailing but, there are no rips, tears or gouges in the seats. My Car-Check came back clean but, then I already knew that it would. It's just a basic GL model---nothing fancy here. The Body is in great shape---and above average for it's age... Now the mods: 1.) The standard clutch has been replaced with a new VR6 clutch (that's the Jetta V6-gaser (Manual Clutch) and that alone installed is over a $1000.00 2.) It has the larger Bosio Injector Nozzles Installed and are over $400.00 3.) It has a Custom Stage 3 ECU Alligator Chip Tune by Malone and that's a little over $300.00 4.) The 04' Factory Alloy Wheels with new tires is around $600.00 So the Mod Upgrades total over $2300.00 And the fact that it has new brake pads and rear caliper, new cooling fans, the AC works great and the Timing Belt Kit (with Water Pump, Rollers, belt, etc...) has another 65,000 miles to go on it and the Manual 5 Speed Tranny Fluid is good to go for a long time---that's a lot of maintenance that's been done. Oh, I just remembered---I put a new Battery and Starter in it 4 months ago... And it has the $70.00 factory VW Jetta "Monster Mats". (So---you can't judge a book by it's cover...) BTW---This thing is nothing to be ashamed of in traffic---it's "goosey" if you need it. That's why the VR6 Clutch is a good idea. With the larger Injector Nozzles and the Alligator Chip Tune the factory clutch will slip on you if you need to accelerate. I've been told you'll never wear out a VR6 Clutch. Note: While a side benefit of the Mods is an increase in torque and horse power---the main reason is for greater economy by letting the engine do what it was designed to do in the first place. I'm not a Guru but, you can tell that I listen and learn from them. :) Manufacturers govern engines back so they make it through warranty periods---but the engines really have a lot more to give. These Mods under normal use has less stress on the engine which allows greater economy. (It’s like taking your fingers off your pinched close nose---you suddenly breath better). Also in the AutoCheck report it mentions an accident with an animal---that is true. A deer leaped in front of me in a residential neighborhood and messed up the little center grill, hood and the hood fastener. The windshield was OK. I ordered a new hood fastener and installed it. I searched on line until I found the same year hood and grill with the same factory white paint code---so no body or paint work done. Just took the old hood and grill off and put the new ones on. They were from a car that had been housed for a long time and were almost like new! I installed them and the car looked much better than it did before---for the old hood had a lot of rock chips from a lot of highway miles. This hood and grill look really great---nothing like original factory finish. Also lost my Title when I moved and had to send for a duplicate---so that is the "MAJOR" Title issue in the AutoCheck. :-) Just a reminder: I am selling this as a project car "as is" due to the Turbo going out a few days ago. There is no warranty expressed or implied. You’ll have to come get it or get it shipped---you don’t want to drive it this way---too risky. Also, it’s hard to start with the Turbo bad. On Dec-04-17 at 18:16:47 PST, seller added the following information: Correction: The larger injector nozzles were Sprint's, not Bosio's... My apologies. One upgrade add on I missed: It has a low profile "Draw-Tite" towing package with wiring harness installed professionally. It was used for taking gear on a small trailer when we went to Montana each year for camping near West Glacier and floating the Northfork. It's great for pulling your 4 wheeler too! Much more economical than using the pick-up truck... Complete install on that was almost $300.00. On Dec-06-17 at 18:23:37 PST, seller added the following information: Notice: Seller location is: Athens, TN 37303 I've been in Tennessee for almost 5 years now and have long ago updated my info with ebay. I even updated it a few days before this listing. But, somehow ebay put my former location on this listing? Not sure how they did it? Well... I'm not in Nevada, MO. Also, the ebay Auto Check report above conflicts greatly with the the 29 page Auto Check report I downloaded on November 29th just prior to listing the Jetta... If anyone wants a pdf. of my 29 page Auto Check report I downloaded---just send your email address and I'll get it to you. :-) I've filed for a revision with ebay motors (they have my pdf.) but, the auction may be over by the time it happens... Could it be? Auto Check on ebay has a buy it back guarantee...The Auto Check I downloaded doesn't... Surely it wouldn't be expedient to throw my listing under the bus rather than run a minuscule risk... Nawww... I don't think they would do that... :-)
