IMMACULATE 1990 HONDA CR500R WITH LESS THAN 50 ORIGINAL HOURS. I AM THE 3RD OWNER .....THE ORIGINAL OWNER WAS IN HIS 50'S WHEN HE PURCHASED THE BIKE NEW BACK IN 1990....IT WAS RIDDEN APPROXIMATELY 25 HRS OVER THE YRS WHILE IN HIS POSSESSION AND BASICALLY USED AS A CONVERSATION PEICE. THE 2ND OWNER WAS IN HIS 40'S AND MAYBE PUT 5 HRS ON IT. I AM 50 AND HAVE PUT MAYBE 10-15 HRS ON THE BIKE SINCE IVE OWNED IT. IT IS ONE OF SEVERAL CR500'S IN MY STABLE AND HAS ONLY BEEN TRAIL RIDDEN AND RIDDEN ON A SEVERAL HUNDRED ACRE FARM DURING ITS LIFETIME....NEVER RACED. THE BIKE IS ORIGINAL WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE TIRES, SPROCKETS AND O-RING CHAIN, HANDLEBARS N GRIPS, STEERING NECK BEARINGS, THE SPHERICAL BEARING IN THE LINKAGE FOR THE LOWER SHOCK MOUNT, THE TOP END JUST GOT BORED 1MM OVER TO 90MM WITH NEW CRANK SEALS REPLACING THE ORIGINALS AND THE CARBURETOR WAS REPLACED WITH A 39.5MM KEIHIN PWK "D" SLIDE CARB TO ADD A FEW HP AND SMOOTH OUT POWER DELIVERY AND EASIER ADJUSTMENT DUE TO THE SEPARATE IDLE/CHOKE CIRCUITS. PWK HAS CORRECT SLIDE/PROFILE, NEEDLE AND JETTING (ORIGINAL 38MM FLAT SLIDE KEIHIN PJ CARB HAS CHOKE PLUNGER BEING ALSO USED AS IDLE ADJUSTER). THE SHOCK AND FORKS HAVE RECENTLY BEEN FRESHENED UP WITH MAYBE 2 HRS RIDING TIME ON THEM SINCE. THE NEW TOP END HAS 3 HEAT/WARM UP CYCLES AND MAYBE A HALF HOUR OF RIDING TIME ON IT. CYLINDER CASTING FLASHING WAS REMOVED FROM PORTS WHEN BEING MACHINED/BORED AND HONED TO INCREMENTALLY INCREASE FLOW THROUGH PORTS/CYLINDER. ALL OF MY BIKES GET IT DONE THE FIRST TIME THEY COME APART. NOT FULL ON PORTING....JUST A LITTLE CLEAN UP TO REMOVE MASS PRODUCTION FLASHING FROM PORTS. ALL OTHER BEARINGS IN MOTOR AND CHASSIS ARE TIGHT AND RIGHT. SHOCK LINKAGE/SWING ARM BEARINGS STILL NICE, TIGHT AND SMOOTH AND KEPT GREASED. I PREFER NOT TO PRESSSURE WASH THEM AS IT ENDS UP RUINING BEARINGS AND SEALS. STEERING NECK WAS DRILLED, TAPPED AND ZERK FITTING INSTALLED FOR EASE OF SERVICE WITHOUT TEARING DOWN WHEN GREASING NECK BEARINGS. PRO TAPER LOW CR BEND BARS WITH PRO TAPER PILLOW TOP GRIPS. THE SUBFRAME AND SIDE FRAME RAILS WHERE BOOTS RUB HAS BEEN TOUCHED UP WITH RUSTOLEUM ENAMEL GLOSS WHITE AS WELL AS CLUTCH ACCESS COVER WITH GLOSS BLACK. MOTOR IS STRONG AND QUIET. CLUTCH HOLDS STRONG. ALL CABLES KEPT LUBED REGULARLY. 32:1 MIXTURE ALWAYS USED TO PROLONG ENGINE LIFE.(JETTING IS SPOT ON AND CRISP SO PLUG FOULING NOT AN ISSUE) MINI SKID PLATE ON BOTTOM OF LOWER FRAME RAILS. THE BIKE IS AS CLEAN AND NICE AS YOU WILL FIND ON A MACHINE THATS BEEN ENJOYED AND RIDDEN SOME AS OPPOSED TO SOME TRAILER QUEEN CONVERSATION PEICES THAT ARE OCCASIONALLY STARTED AND JUST LOOKED AT. IVE OWNED MANY CR500'S OVER THE PAST 27 YRS AND OWN A SHOP IN AKRON, OHIO. IM SUPER PICKY ABOUT MY BIKES AND KEEPING THEM NICE, CLEAN, MAINTAINED RELIGIOUSLY .
