Vehicle Detail
Your Eyes Do Not Lie... This is a factory-built, full-size Dodge SUV. ---------------------------- If you don't know the story, it goes like this (otherwise skip to the larger text below the break)... When the "new" Ram came out in 1994, Chrysler Corporation didn't bother with a new Ramcharger. Two-door SUV sales were fading away and they had their hands full with a new truck launch. Meanwhile in Mexico, the old RC still sold well, so it stayed around until 1996 when they finally pulled the plug. Over at el GM, they started cleaning up with a brand new Blazer. Los Mexicanos Dodge dealers were mucho PO'd and they made a stink all the way up to Auburn Hills, MI demanding a new Ramcharger. (This was back when Chrysler was still kicking-a** and hadn't yet been mortally wounded by a money-sucking parasite.) Thus when they introduced the new RC, they gave it a much better backseat, pop-out windows, rear A/C, (a third row jumpseat!) and all the other stuff that made the T-300 Ram awesome. It became a topic of debate within the company whether to sell this version in the USA. (I worked there and I even saw a version mocked up with quad-cab doors.) The real reasons it wasn't sold in the US were: A, It would have lowered the company's CAFE score (an asinine leftover from Jimmy Carter that is unique to the US and dictates product mix) and B, It would have competed against the new Durango in showrooms. I can't argue against the decision, it was correct from a business perspective although it sucked in terms of coolness. However, Mexican citizens who immigrate legally are allowed to register them and eventually sell them. A handful are now in the US (Google). Mine had a California title that I transferred to Michigan, and it's one of three that I own with MI titles. How did I end up with three and why am I selling this one? Because I bought my first in 2014. My wife loved it and drove it two work everyday. A crazy $%&@# mistook gas-for-brakes and drove off a major road at full throttle, straight into the right side, WHILE. IT. WAS. PARKED. It was ruined (sorta drives) but I still own it and its valid MI title. I would entertain offers to sell it. Anyway, I wanted another. I searched for over two years and this red one popped up in LA. I shipped it out here, and guess what happened? A mint-condition LOADED version with all options and the 5.9 Magnum popped up a month later. So that's numero tres. -------------------------------------------------- THERE ARE VIDEOS OF THIS TRUCK ON THE "tube"... Cut/Paste these titles into the search... 1999 Dodge Ramcharger drives up, light check 1999 Dodge Ramcharger A/C 1999 Dodge Ramcharger rear seat access Description: This is not a perfect vehicle, but it's an excellent way to own a modern, comfortable, useful, fuel-injected, daily-driver SUV that will draw a "WTF?" crowd at any cruise night or stop light. No questionable title or need to bribe the Federales. You will be cock-o-the-walk at any Mopar event. In fact, that's why I'm eBaying this thing! I want it to go out of state so I can be "the guy with the rare, cool truck". We'll agree to a truce at the Mopar Nats. You know what else is cool? Mechanically it's just a '99 Ram, so that means no exotic parts to keep it on the road. Try that with your stupid McLaren 570S. Or a new Fiat. Rust isn't an issue in a place known for deserts, and this truck won't disappoint. Not. A. Speck. (beyond a couple paint chips). You may have noticed the right fender is trashed. Have no fear, a mint used fender is included. The previous owner was gathering parts to fix it up and I'm including them... Fan shroud, (old one has crack) Steering Column (I don't know why, he said for the horn?) Passenger power mirror (current one has loose glass) and the 4th matching, Mexico-only rim (dry-rotted tire blew while I had it in storage, centercap is MIA). Try to find one of these trucks in the USA that: Has a legit title Hasn't been butchered into a pimp-mobile with stupid rims and an obnoxious stereo complete with half-assed wiring one bass-thump from burning the damn thing to the ground. That's why I bought this one. I've only driven it a few miles, from the hauler to my storage space. It's going to need an alignment. Tires are junk. Has a stupid aftermarket radio. It needs a paint job to be show-worthy. I think the battery might have a dead cell (or it's just weak from always being stored and needs a slow charge). The plastic roof rail trim on these trucks is always missing. This one is no exception. You could just finish the factory weld seam, or use a black molding. For now it has half-assed moldings, but unless you're that 6'9" chick from My Giant Life, it's not that noticeable. HVAC mode door is stuck and the dash is cracked, like every Dodge truck from this era, but it all functions for now. Better-than-stock aftermarket replacements are easy to find. Now let's talk about some good things: No important missing parts (like tail lamps, emblems, interior trim)Engine quiet, exhaust sounds great. Trans shifts properlyCold A/C, including rear unitKeyless entry FOB. Even my loaded SLT+ doesn't have that optionVery good interior that could be excellent with some workMileage is 116,482 Kilometers, or 72,378 in milesBrakes goodBasically this is an easy-project truck that you can drive-as-you work after getting some tires and maybe a battery. Lots of potential and definitely a nice driver. Even 20-years after they were built, few people have ever heard of them. I can't guarantee your particular state won't be a pain-in-the-asp, but this vehicle is just titled as a pickup in Michigan and as a utility vehicle in California. Questions? Ask. On Oct-23-17 at 11:25:37 PDT, seller added the following information: Carfax's advertisement is displaying "major title issues" because their system does not recognize characters in the VIN number for a Mexican-market vehicle, nor the Lago Albero (MX) factory which did not ship vehicles to the USA in 1999. Please reference the standard, green Michigan title in the photos. There is no evidence this vehicle was ever "totaled". It does not include a cargo-area jump seat, that was an optional feature.
