Up for No Reserve Auction is this 2006 Sprinter 2500 158. I have put roughly 100,000 miles on this rig over the past couple of years. It is one of six T1N Sprinter models that I own in the US and Europe. Since I've owned it I've upgraded it to a heavy duty suspension and replaced the transmission. The van is solid, and at 260,000 miles it is roughly at its mid life. Though they can do a million miles, I usually retire mine around 500,000. My reason for sale is simply an odd circumstance. My longtime Sprinter mechanic in Albuquerque, Eric, died of a heart attack after replacing the engine in my Mercedes Sprinter as I was on my way to collect it and drop this one off for service. It does indeed need service. A rear bolt on the turbo manifold has broken allowing boosted air/exhaust to spill out. This reduces power and can cause the van to slip into limp mode. This has caused the check engine light to illuminate (low boost pressure). However, there is nothing wrong with the turbo or the engine mechanically. It simple needs the broken portion of the bolt extracted and the gasket replaced. Rather than look for another Sprinter technician around Albuquerque I have decided to sell. I tried to figure out some way of getting this van back home for service, but to be honest I no longer need all of these vans for my current gig. There are two other issues that are also in need of attention. The multifunction switch needs to be replaced. I've replaced a few of these on my other vans and this one is malfunctioning in a similar fashion to all the others. Only the hazards and headlights, high and low, are working. No wipers/fluid, or turn signals at the moment. Also, the rear door latch is goofed up. It's an easy fix but I never got around to it. I will include the removed engine from the Mercedes. It has lots of good parts, including the turbo (Which can be heard rolling around in the video. I blew the head gasket due to my MD buddy pumping it full of gasoline and running it for ten miles or so. It was running when pulled). I am currently on my way west and hope to be back in Albuquerque at auction's end. The landlord and my former mechanic's shop has generously allowed me to keep the van there, but I need to get it out of there ASAP. I may be willing to toss a motorcycle in the back and deliver if needed (I import, trade, and deliver bikes) up to 500 miles for a reasonable rate. Please inquire about this if you feel it's an option. This is a good van in need of maintenance.
