I ordered this car new for my growing family in April of 1997. It was garaged for the first 11 years. I changed the oil religiously every 3000 miles. The transmission fluid was changed annually. The first 10 years with Mobil One. I have complete service records from new. Mechanically the car is very sound. I had planned on giving it to my youngest son to take to college (he was an infant when I picked up the truck new- he was born march of '97). Consequently I had new Goodyear tires put on, new brakes and rotors, new radiator, new brake lines, new transmission cooler lines, new power steering lines, new exhaust manifolds, recent shocks, trailing arms, new steering wheel, new steering collumn, new windshield wipers, oil change, new transmission fluid change, new tie rod ends. New headlights. So, thousands invested as it has been well loved and truly part of the family. His mother (I'm divorced) bought him a new VW so, so much for passing the legacy on of this vehicle to my son. It has 294,000 miles on it. Most of this is highway as I travel to our summer home frequently. It runs so well I would bet it would run another 300k miles. Overall it is in great shape. Everything works except the cassette player. A/c blows very cold. It does have a little rust under the doors. Nothing major. Time to let go. We will miss her.
