Vehicle Detail

FOR SALE: A 1956 Corvette Convertible, 283 (1957 Period Correct) V8 4 bbl.NON-matching #s (looks correct but 56's were 265 V8's), 4 Speed upgrade (56's were 3 spd's), 3:70 Posi Rearend. Early production #515 with "Painted Headlight Rings". This 1956 Corvette was built Friday March 16th 1956, it was the 7th out of 18 Corvette's built that day! This is a nicer unrestored Driver Quality Corvette. Has one older repaint back in 1972, Was Originally Cascade Green, when repainted way back in 1972 it was painted ARCTIC BLUE and Ivory Coves was added later. Paint is shinny but is OLD and has "Checking", cracks, chips, etc.etc. from years of drying and use. As Mike Wolf would say from the TV show "AMERICAN PICKERS", "It has that Cool "Sweaty Look"!! With that being said it still looks good and gets good complements and thumbs up when ever I take it out! Has that "GREAT PATINA" look and paint looks great from 10 feet away! Interior Beige/Ivory (white) and is in good overall condition for its age and use. Dash and gauges looks great! Has its "ORIGINAL" Wonder Bar" Radio (just static) and power AMP. A lot of resent work has been done to make it a reliable driver. New Radiator, New Clutch Fan assembly, Restored Date Coded Generator, New Water Pump, New Engine Mounts, All new Hoses and Belt, Rebuilt Wiper Motor, New Clutch Kit with period correct Scatter Shield, New Exhaust, New Brakes, New Brake Master Cylinder... etc.etc.etc. "Wide Whites" Tires are in good shape with very good tread but are BIAS Ply design. Has a very "SOLID" frame, basicly just road grime (see pics) I have watched a number of vehicles on ebay where they "say" Rust Free, and then show pictures where every metal item under the car is scaly rust red! NOT this Car! LOOK at the pics.! Just basic road grime! This Corvette does have the "normal" minor rust issue with the rear cross member (they "rivit" in, not welded in) where the dirt/grime and moisture backs up to. (very common, see pics.) (rear cross members sell for $345. retail, Paragon Corvette Supplies, part # 2946). Most of these old Corvettes have been restored and are $80+K one nicely restored (rated a #2 with #1 being the best) 56 vette Sold at a Mecum Auction in 2015 for $112,000. Plus the 10% $11,200. buyers fee = $123,200. How many nicer unrestored very affordable Old Corvettes are still out there? Is this 1956 Corvette totally original? NO! It is a COOL looking unrestored old Corvette with TONS of Patina! (It is the "IN" thing right now. Nice old 1956 Corvette, Please remember this is basicly a 61 year old unrestored driver quality Corvette, if you are looking for a Virgin N.C.R.S. garage queen Corvette, this is not it. You will need to keep looking and expect to pay a boat load more money for one. ***SOLD AS-IS! *** These do not come along that often, DO NOT MISS OUT! Please note: I know that 56 Corvette's had 265 V8's not 283 V8's like 57 corvette's. I know that 56 v8 engines were painted Chevrolet RED not Chevrolet ORANGE like 57 V8's. The motors are basicly the same externally between 1956 & 1957 and this motor looks Period Correct as 1956 & 1957 Corvette look basicly the same. I also know that 56 corvette's had 3 speed's NOT 4 speeds, and that the 4 spd option did not come out until late 1957, again, as 56 & 57 corvette's look basicly the same and most people prefered a 4spd over a 3spd, it was a very common practice (back in the day) to switch them out. AGAIN, period correct. NOT a N.C.R.S. totally original car, just a nice basicly unrestored driver quality 1956 Corvette. If this Corvette was "totally original", I would be asking a bunch more money for it. I could use the ROOM, but am NOT Desperate to sell and I am NOT going to GIVE IT AWAY. "REASONABLE OFFERS ONLY" PLEASE! Note: (This Corvette "bid" to $47k + 10%buyers fee = $51,700. at the Mecum Portland, Oregon Collector Car Auction June of 2017)(Was on Air - tape so you can look it up!, NO BS) At that time I "did not" turn it loose. But now would like to sell it BEFORE Winter sets in, so I have made some MINOR adjustment to what it will take to buy the car. Sorry NO TRADES!!! Thanks!
