Vehicle Detail
For Sale: 2006 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 Extended cab, long bed pickup General: This is a very nice, clean, low-mileage four-wheel drive vehicle finished in a handsome medium blue/green metallic upper with cashmere (light tan) metallic lower body and anthracite (dark gray) leather interior. This unit has every available option including the factory tilt and sliding sunroof. Ordered as a demonstrator by the local Chevrolet dealer, it has been owned by a senior citizen since new. The truck is coming out of the estate of the original owner with fewer than 44,000 miles. The exterior has a few minor bumps, dings, and scratches but overall it is in very good condition. The interior is pretty much perfect. Mileage: Odometer works. It reads approximately 43,500 and is known to be correct. It has fewer than 500 hours on the original engine. Exterior Body: The exterior is fairly clean. There are a few dents, dings, and scratches but no body rust at all. It has never been wrecked or repaired. The bed was factory coated and it has had a heavy rubber bed mat for its entire life. There is no rust or deterioration of the bed though there are a few minor dents that you might not even notice. The wheels look crappy. Obviously the clear-coat broke down and the underlying alloy started to discolor. They really need to be refinished to befit the condition of the rest of the truck. Underbody: Has typical undercarriage deterioration more as a result of disuse than misuse. The truck was parked in a barn during the winters but it spent the rest of the time outside. It is clear that it has seen some road salt and extended periods of being parked on a porous surface. Still, for an 11 year-old truck, it is cleaner than average. Exterior Chrome: It’s all there and in good condition. The front bumper is perfect. The rear bumper has a few scratches and discoloration. The running boards are shiny and in excellent condition. Glass: It is all perfect – no cracks, chips, bull’s eyes or sandblasting. All windows are tinted and the glass aft of the front doors is limousine dark. Power front windows operate quickly and quietly. Rear side windows tilt out at the back edge. Factory sunroof is deeply tinted glass with a pull across sunshade. Weather Sealing: All rubber is soft and pliable. It is well sealed from the elements and noise. Electrical: Everything works as designed. All lights function. One taillight lens is scratched but not broken. Nothing is inoperative. Has power windows, locks, dual power and heated seats. Automatic dual zone climate control heats and cools well. Top-end in-dash multi-CD changer has probably never been used. Wired for a trailer. Cruise control works great. Has daytime running lights and factory fog/driving lights below the front bumper in addition to the regular high and low beams. All lenses are clear – no fogging. Dashboard: All gauges and indicator lamps work as designed. Gauge faces are clear and easily read during the day or at night. Has the full gauge package including MPH, RPM, fuel, oil pressure, battery charge, and engine temperature. Has the command center on-board computer to monitor and manage various functions. The dash top is clean with no fading or cracking. It looks and functions like a brand-new truck. The center console features a deep bin, wide armrest, three (two in front, one in rear of cabin) 12V power outlets, and floor and A/C air outlets for the rear seat passengers. Interior: The dark gray interior is nearly perfect. Seats are clean. Leather is not stretched, cracked, or faded. Seams are all tight. Front seats are heated, recline fully, and have power lumbar support. The rear-hinged back doors provide outstanding access to the interior. The bench seat in the back of the cabin is comfortable even for tall adults. The lower cushion folds up for extra floor space. The carpets are clean. No stains or odd smells. The vehicle has never been smoked in. Ash trays and lighters are brand new. The light gray headliner is in perfect condition. The driver’s door panel shows some age and there are a few scratches here and there but overall the interior is pretty amazing – especially for an 11 year-old truck. It has clearly been used gently. Brakes: Excellent. New front pads and rear shoes and springs. Looks like the brake fluid has been flushed recently. The parking brake works and holds the .heavy truck even on hills. It has four-wheel ABS and dual airbags. Engine: 318 (5.3 liter) V-8 with electronic fuel injection starts and runs beautifully. It is quiet and smooth. It is not a neck-snapper but it deports itself with ample power for towing and passing. Oil and filter have recently been changed. It just passed state emissions inspections. Fuel mileage is not great but this is a big, heavy truck with four-wheel drive. These 5.3 liter engines are proving to be robust and pretty much bullet proof in addition to being easy to service. Transmission: Four speed Allison automatic functions perfectly well. Upshifts and downshifts as designed. Has a trailer towing function to adjust for the extra load. Rear axle: No issues. Doesn’t leak. No noise. Posi-traction engages as appropriate for smooth, steady power and safe and sure handling. Front axle: Front right bearing hub appears to be newer than the left one. Both wheels spin freely and silently. Four-wheel drive seems to engage and disengage as designed but it has rarely been used and never off road. Exhaust: Single stainless-steel exhaust from the factory. No leaks. It is quiet and does its job unobtrusively. Steering: Steering feels fine and tight although this is a big vehicle and maneuvering it into tight spaces can be tricky. Was recently inspected and lubricated. Suspension: Shocks look original but they seem to function well. Truck rides smoothly on all roads. No odd noises or movements noted. Ride height is normal. Tires: White outline letter all-terrain tires have lots of tread left. They are too new to notice any uneven wear patterns. Recently rebalanced and rotated. The car rides very smoothly though the tires make more noise at higher speeds than regular road tires. It handles well in curves; it stays level, and the tires don’t squeal – even when driven vigorously.Title: It is still registered and titled to the deceased owner, a retired US Navy Commander and tall ship captain. The estate will be out of probate by the time this truck sells. Title will pass cleanly and immediately to the new owner.Inspection: It is available for inspection by appointment only.Warranty: If you discover that the vehicle is not as represented, I will buy it back for the selling price less a ten prevent handling fee within seven days of the closing of the auction; however, any transportation costs will be yours.Shipping: Buyer is responsible. I will make the car available to a carrier. I am experienced with overseas shipping. I will work with the buyer/broker to get it to you as quickly and safely as possible. It can be driven anywhere as is. Payment: $500 deposit within 48 hours of closing of the auction. Balance to be paid within seven days of closing of the auction. PayPal, wire transfer, cash at time of pick up, check (certified or personal as long as it has cleared prior to pick up) or any combination of the above are all acceptable methods of payment. Any face-to-face exchange of consideration will occur at a safe location (Police or Fire Station). Pricing: Starting price is low. Trade-in value: $12,650. Retail value: $15,000. The unit is in very good condition. It is not perfect; the above values reflect this. Proceeds from this sale will go toward a smaller car for the widow to replace her aged SUV.
