1971 PONTIAC GT-37 "PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION" NO RESERVE AUCTION.PHS DOCUMENTED (SEE PIC TO SEE PHS PAPERWORK)1971 1/2 Built in May of 1971. Super Rare color combination. The GT-37 was ordered with Sandalwood Exterior paint with Sandalwood interior with Blue Reflective sword striping. The GT-37 packaged included 14" Rally II de-chromed wheels (no trim rings) Dual exhaust with cut-out rear valance with duel tip exhaust tips, hood lockdown pins, dual paint bodyside mirrors with LH remote. This was Pontiac trying to appeal to a younger crowd by stripping down a GTO and still having performance and appeal. The public called it at the time "The poor man's GTO!"This particular car had comfort options checked off. Which is also rare for what Pontiac called their affordable muscle car for people under 30 at the time. Which included Air conditioning (in-op at this time), power steering, power brakes! 350 2bbl Standard engine with the optional 2 speed Automatic transmission. The GT-37 is NOT fully restored, but is what I say has had a good re-conditioning. It is a great weekend cruiser. It runs and drives pretty good, stops straight. The engine block does not match, however, the heads (cast 94), intake manifold, carb etc all seem to belong to the car. Looking under the hood looks really stock. Previous owner said the motor was matching, but the engine block code is WD and I don't believe match. Backstory on the car: Just from digging into this car and did some research. The GT-37 sold in TN and spent a lot of it's time in St. Louis area and was maintained and had a re-paint and upholstery re-done in the 1980's. Then upon being sold in St. Louis area it was drivin' very little over several years and at that time the driver's side window was broken and the vinyl mat (GT-37's came standard without carpeting).So... I replaced the floor pans, and had the body touched up had the paint which was fairly recent buffed out and polished. The paint is decent not show quality but decent quality . There are a few paint chips and flaws in the body, but very presentable. I put the correct GT-37 Sword striping on. Replaced door, glove box and trunk locks. Replaced the tires with new RWL 70 tires and new lug nuts and center caps. I also replaced the hood pins and located a lots of missing trim. I gave the 350 a tune up with new plugs, cap, rotor and points, new air cleaner. The air conditioner does not work, but it all there under the hood. The heater core has a small leak so I had to bypass the heater hose. The Carb could use a kit or a good adjustment. I replaced the rusty glass pack mufflers with new Flow Tech Red Hots Glass Packs and replaced the exhaust tips. Interior, I replaced the headliner, added carpet, package tray and cleaned and re-dyed the upholstery as it was scuffed and faded. The door panels have had some repairs and should be replaced, but I have not been able to locate a good set of standard 71 panels (GTO panels are of a different design). The trunk pans have had patches over the years it is ok for now, but may be something a new owner can replace in the future. The trunk lid still needs trunk torsion rods to hold the lid up. A few notable things I noted that still may need to be addressed: The RH rear tail light assembly has seen better days, the fuel guage works sometimes, chrome bumpers show there age, some body panel alignment etc. Just little odd and things can be done to make it an even better car.So overall.... for sale is a 1971 Pontiac GT-37 350/Auto PS, PB, AC (does not work). The car looks much like it did when it was new in respect to what it came with. It still could use some refurbishing, but it is stillCar is being SOLD AS-IS.
