Vehicle Detail
This is an auction. 10K is the reserve. It is not for sale locally and will not be pulled at the last minute. Best bid over the reserve wins this great CJ.1985 CJ-7. I am the second owner, bought it directly from the first. Was a SoCal Jeep. All prices below are parts only. 1. Engine: 1993 TBI 350 from a Chevy truck. Smog Legal in CA (see pic). Smog legal in Nevada (I have a State of Nevada waiver from the NV DMV which allows it to be smogged throughout NV, even Washoe and Clark County.) I have regular plates on it and have passed CA and then NV smog (Washoe County twice). You can get Classic plates if you don't want to deal with it. Cost for a smog legal swap such as this is $3-4K. 2. Transmission: NV4500 from the same 1993 Chevy truck. This is the very rare 6.34:1 first gear ratio NV4500. It's easy to find an NV, but about impossible to find this early GM model with the 6.34:1. Typically about $2,000 to convert to this trans and it will be not be this very low geared one. 3. Transfer case: upgraded stock Dana 300. 4:1 low gear set installed ($900). JB Conversions rear output yoke upgrade ($500). Twin stick modification w/ additional removal of interlock pills ($150). This allows 2H (front or rear), 4H, 4L, N, 2L (front or rear). 4. Total gear reduction in first gear trans, low range = approx. 89:1 which is plenty low! (Axles gears are stock, about 3.54:1) 5. Toms Woods drive shafts front and rear. ($600). CV type rear shaft, long spline type for front (due to shackle reversal). 6. Axles are stock (had to leave something for somebody else to do). About 3.54:1 ratios. 7. Hydroboost power brake system ($600) and all new SS brake lines ($200). New high pressure power steering pump to power the hydroboost ($150). 8. All new (other than rotors) front brakes. 9. Rear disk brake conversion ($700). 1979 Cadillac calipers allow use of stock parking brake. 10. Front spring shackle reversal (Proper welded in type, not the cheap bolt on. ($300) 11. Rear axle Trac Lock differential. (Front is still open). 12. Rear axle Moser 1 piece shafts ($300) 13. Genright 20 gallon fuel tank ($1,000) (It hurt to type that $1K...) 14. Genright flat fenders ($650) 15. Genright rear fender flares ($300) 16. Genright rocker guards ($400) 17. Brand new rims and tires ($1,500) 18. Custom front winch bumper ($1,400) You will not finds a sturdier bumper anywhere...guaranteed. 19. Custom rear Rubicon bumper (1,600) Same as above. NOTE: Does NOT come with the hi-lift jack 20. After-market steering box mount ($110) 21. OME 2.5" lift system, including sway bar disconnects. ($1,200) 22. GM heater motor conversion. Improved air volume than stock Jeep blower. 23. New heater core, heater cables. Should be trouble free for 25 more years. 24. New door and window seals 25. New 130 amp alternator 26. Flaming River steering shaft $150 27. Aluminum radiator w/ Summit electric cooling fan/shroud. $550 Jeep runs and drives very well. Jeep has absolutely zero rust, and never had any. There is no rust repair on this Jeep. The TBI 350 and NV4500 transmission both came out of a 125,000 mile 1993 Chevy pickup. The NV4500 is the very rare 6.34:1 granny low version. I confirmed this while transmission was removed. Combination is great for trailing running, good low end. Top end is typical for these vintage trucks...just fine but nothing to write home about. :) Jeep was taken down to bare frame and completely re-done with the following exceptions: 1. Front and rear axles are stock. They have new brakes and axle seals and wheel bearings. Other than being cleaned up they are stock. 2. Transmission and engine both have approximately 125,000 miles. I replaced the engine rear main and oil pan gaskets. Both are running synthetic oil and should last another 100,000 miles easily with care. 3. New radiator and electric fan keeps it running cool. Went trail running on a July day in Moab and had no issues with cooling. (Alternator couldn't take it though...so I replaced it with the new 130amp unit). 4. Has never seen hard off-roading. Trail running in Moab and Death Valley is about it. Never even heard a rock hit the frame or axles. 5. Additional items that come with it: Radio, pod speakers, roll bar pads, roll bar storage bags, bikini top, extra KC light, tow bar and dealer installed under-dash AC blower. Probably not good for AC but does provide air flow (which the Jeeps sorely lack at times) Blower unit is not installed. Bad: 1. Hard top has a ding in the fiberglass. Minor, but I never got around to fixing it . See pic. 2. Hard top rear hatch doesn't open fully when using the full Rubicon rack. Works fine with just the swing away tire rack. I was going to install a soft top, which will allow full use of the swing-away. That's up to you. 3. Minor paint chips scattered around. I have touched up and have some more spare paint. Paint is shiny and well laid down, but not a show quality. You can use this Jeep without worrying about your $5K paint job... 4. No radio at this time. Not a "Bad" for me, but I am including one if you want to get a console and install it. 5. Winch does not have cable or remote control at current. It does power up which I can demonstrate. It's a great Jeep (lots of looks and comments, fun!) and you could not come close to doing this much to it for less than $30K. Jeep has been certified by California BAR to be smog legal. Placard and paperwork obviously included. Nevada has issued a waiver (also included) allowing the Jeep to be registered in any county in NV.If you want a picture of anything send a request. Nothing to hide. On Jun-12-17 at 14:59:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to add a note for clarity. I have the mileage listed as 130,000. This is the engine and transmission mileage. The transfer case is rebuilt, basically 5K miles or less. The odometer reads 310,000 miles. I know the rear AMC 20 is not original, but do not know the mileage of it. The front Dana 20 has new bearings and brakes and rarely spins because it is generally "free". I did not want someone to be surprised by the 310,000 on the odometer (who even knew CJs had that many digits...)On Jun-14-17 at 07:27:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Note to potential buyer. The auction ends about 5 PM on Thursday 6/15. Vehicle will be available for pickup that day, then on Fri or Sat, then again the following Monday, 6/19. After that I am out of town till Sat 6/24. Sorry for any inconvenience. On Jun-14-17 at 07:30:31 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional note. I will gladly work to help ship the Jeep if needed. I won't pay for it, but I can be available to help the transport company get access, or even take it to the local transport terminal as long as it is in Reno.On Jun-14-17 at 10:27:18 PDT, seller added the following information: Another note... The State of Nevada requires the license plates be turned in. They do not go with the vehicle. You will have the signed title and a bill of sale. It's just some kind of NV weirdness. On Jun-14-17 at 14:12:52 PDT, seller added the following information: https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=O2M7xDwBB5U https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=-EPKDIWtrM4On Jun-14-17 at 14:23:14 PDT, seller added the following information: I added a new pic. I was a jet mechanic so, for some weird reason, I felt compelled to drill and safety wire most of the bolts which screwed in to the frame. Bragging rights I guess. :)
