Vehicle Detail
Let me begin by making git clear that I'm a private collector. I am not in the business of buying and selling cars. I'm not a flipper, but rather an enthusiast. I always try to be as open as honest as possible when buying or selling a car and my eBay rating supports this. This is my car, not selling it for a friend, etc. With that being said, you are bidding on a beautifully restored 1970 Chevelle Malibu (SS Tribute). My uncle purchased this car new in 1970.. it is a rare Canadian built Chevelle. He owned it for nine years and I was able to track it down about six years ago when I decided to add a Chevelle to my collection. I put the car through a two year frame- on restoration and the result is impressive. With over $50,000 in receipts, I have enjoyed driving and showing the car for the past four years, but now that there is nothing left to do to it, I have the itch to start another project. The car has won over twenty five awards at various car shows ranging from local shows to larger regional California & Arizona shows. It has appeared in advertising for Edelbrock & BF Goodrich. Exterior: The car was professionally taken down to the metal and repainted Cranberry Red with Black Stripes. Base coat/ clear coat with DuPont paint, the finish is superb, as you can see in the photos. Bondo free, only filler that was used was on final sanding. All the glass is fantastic and every bit of trim is perfect. I'm a stickler for NOS and OEM parts, so it took me more than a year to find NOS trim. All other trim was either restored to the highest standards or new aftermarket pieces were purchased if I had no other choice. Brand new staggered SS wheels (15x7 & 15x8) with new BFG Rubber. The exterior looks just as good in real life as it does in the photos. I made sure that all gaps are great at the doors, truck and hood. Interior: The interior is absolutely spotless. Everything from the headliner to door panels, seats, carpet and dash is new. The entire dash was professional disassembled and restored. Original gauges have been restored as was the original radio. It has won several awards for best stock interior. When my uncle ordered the car, he had originally wanted bucket seats. After two weeks, he changed his mind and order the bench. When the car showed up at the Canadian dealership, the bench seat was there, but the speedometer was missing the gear selector that would normally be used with a console shift car. My uncle didn't want to go through the hassle of having the dealership tear the dash apart, so he just left it. This unique detail is what made me realize that the car that was being advertised online could be my uncle's. It turned out that it was. Therefore, I decided to keep the floor shift speedo in the car. I think it's a unique detail about the car that ads to it's character. It's easy enough to replace if the next buyer chooses to. Drivetrain: The original 350 4- barrel engine was professional rebuilt by the well known engine builder, Bob Small, in San Clemente, California. The block was bored .30 and only the best internal parts were used. The engine produces about 340HP. I wanted something that had good kick, but would be reliable and not over heat even if I decided to drive through Death Valley in the Summer. All components were brand new, including the Holley four barrel car, alternator, battery, radiator (recored), power brake booster, master cylinder, electronic ignition, plugs, wires, everything. Ceramic coasted headers, 2.5 inch mandrel bent exhaust running through FlowMaster 40 mufflers and out to the correct factory tips. Power disc brakes, rebuilt Turbo 350 transmission with shift kit, upgraded upper and lower control arms from CPP, all new shocks, bushings, rear torque bar, springs, rebuilt rear end with 3.36 gears. Rebuilt and balanced drive shaft. I prefer the original oil pan, as it seals much better than the crappy aftermarket versions and I have been unable to find an NOS oil pan. Kick down works as it should, so the car pulls hard, sounds mean, stops on a dime, handles better than new and stays under 180 degrees no matter how hard you drive it or how hot it is outside. This is simply a fantastic car. I would never sell it, but we have another child on the way and just don't have room for another vehicle, so this one has to go. I've had a great time with this Chevelle, but it's time for someone else to enjoy it and carry on the legacy. I have included a link to additional photos including the underside and engine bay, as well as a video walk around of the car while running. Bid with confidence- no disappointments. I encourage you to come and inspect the car yourself. No tire kickers or low ball offers, please. I will be advertising the car locally as well, so I reserve the right to end the auction if it sells before the eBay listing ends.
