Vehicle Detail

This car is a 1999 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I bought in in 2010 from an older couple who had it for a few years, who bought it from the leasing company that auctioned it for the police department. It had been driven by a police chief so it didn't see much action, but the rear passenger doors do not open from the inside. I intended to use it as a Constable car, and put in a divider and window bars, but never wound up needing it for such purposes. I put in a new transmission right after I bought it. That cost me $4k, and I don't put many miles on it, so the transmission is practically new. I put new tires on it last spring for inspection, however, it failed inspection due to a leaking exhaust manifold, which I couldn't patch. The car runs well, but in order to pass inspection, it needs a new right-side exhaust manifold. It also has a broken left front spring that needs replaced, a new right front outer tie rod, and a left front upper ball joint, and two spots of rot on the undercarriage that need plates welded on. The air conditioning could use a recharge, but that's not necessary for inspection. This is too much work for me to invest in a car I don't need, but it's a nice ride and runs, so I hate to junk it. If you are willing to fix it up it would be a great car. Otherwise, I am sure it has some good parts, like the new tires and the transmission that has very few miles on in it. Aside from some rust around the wheel wells, and a scratch on one of the doors, looks nice, too. The divider and window bars are removable, but they might be nice if you like to travel with larger dogs. Police Interceptors don't have a lot of bells and whistles, so there is no cruise control and it only has a radio- no CD player.
