Vehicle Detail

When business slows down in the winter, I'll build a bike or two for spring sale. Generally, I turn out vintage Goldwings, one after another, but this bike piqued my interest, so I applied the same methods to building this CB900 as I normally do in all my work. The previous owner bought this machine 28 years ago, (documented, copy of title) and put it up some years ago, after thankfully draining the gas and storing with fresh oils. It was worth the drive to get and I didn’t quibble with his price. It had good bones, solid exhaust, original paint and toolkit. The bike was stripped to engine in frame. (see pic) Everything with surface rust was dipped then painted or powdercoated. (Having a powdercoater literally right down the street makes this really convenient!) Valves were set, carbs were built with all new internals, ditto brakes- masters and calipers. All new brake pads were installed and fresh tires mounted. An American made Yuasa battery was installed and electrics checked. The motor got all new cover gaskets after my polish job, forks got new seals and upper bushings after polishing the sliders and the fork bearings were repacked. Many bolts and threads were chased, cleaned and reassembled with antiseize, wherever ferrous met alloy. Body wise, the tank was cleaned out. It really didn’t need it but I didn’t want to miss something. Some of the striping was delaminating, so I redid the side covers and one side of the tank after a deep clean and polish/ wax. The fenders had surface rust on their bottom sides, which I removed, then basecoat/clearcoated silver, see pic. Although the 4 into 4 exhaust was solid, I didn’t think it measured up to the appearance of the machine in total. So to finish it off, I selected a stainless Delkovic system to compliment the finished build. It speaks with authority w/o annoying the neighbors. The original exhaust will be included in the sale, as the buyer wishes. I hope you might consider this CB900C, based on the work described and curb appeal. It's not so much restored, (to my thinking) as it is refurbished and checked over. It is original in all aspects, a Southern bike, has good provenance and because of its unique gearing, (10 speed) is becoming collectable. This bike has a clear GA title in my name. I have been doing this work, primarily on Hondas and BMWs for nearly 40 years and have been selling and shipping them here on eBay for nearly 20 years to satisfied collectors and customers around the world.
