Vehicle Detail
1969 Chevelle. This was my son's car in High School. When he went off to college, he put it up on blocks in his Grandparents back yard, where it has sat for more than a decade. Now that we are selling the house, it needs to go. It ran when it was put back there, but time has taken it's toll, and it is not running now. It is leaking oil pretty significantly, and I am sure could use a new set of gaskets. The tires hold air (probably thanks to being put up on Stands), but I make no promises about their long term roadworthiness. The air shocks seem to not hold air. Could just be the Lines. I put a new battery in it, Marvel Mystery Oil, and it does crank, no problem. Just don't have the time to explore why it won't fire. Likely needs a carb rebuild. It was originally a Straight 6, Powerglide car, but we had a 69 Malibu we swapped from for the 307 (HEI) and Turbo 350. It isn't fast, but it sounds great with the Magnaflows on it. It was great for my son in High School, cuz it's a cool car, and sounded mean, but he couldn't get into trouble. He also ditched the Bench seat for some Buckets from an Eclipse. They are in good shape and are comfortable. The car had some pretty substantial rust issues in the pan, which we POR15-ed, as well as rear quarters and rear valance, which we fiberglassed. The fixes were fine for his purposes, and actually held up all this time. It isn't perfect, but there is certainly enough here to work up a really nice, solid example. I wanted to keep it, do new quarters and pan, Paint, etc. and drop and LS drivetrain in to make a Nice Restomod for myself, but I just don't have time, energy or storage. Sad to see her go, but it would be a shame for someone not to get her back on the road. One may be able to get it running and drive it off, although, I would be reluctant to drive it very far. I was going to tow it home to Phoenix. I wouldn't trust it without going through all the systems. We drug it out in front of the house. It is in a place where it is accessible for tow. I would encourage anyone local, seriously interested in coming by to check it out in person. the car is Altadena California, (Pasadena area). If you buy it, it has to be gone within a week as the house is going on the market. Anyway, I will answer what I can about it. On Mar-30-17 at 11:33:08 PDT, seller added the following information: I have gotten a lot of questions about whether the engine is seized, and while I thought my description addressed that specifically, I have posted a short video of the car turning over here: https://youtu.be/zPaeybewzsE
