Vehicle Detail
No reserve auction! I have over $40,000 into my 2004 Ford Excursion LIMITED, 6.0 Liter V8 turbo diesel with less than 108,000 miles, automatic transmission, 4-wheel drive, leather seats, cruise control, power windows, power steering, power seats, power door locks, heated front seats, running boards, tinted glass, front & rear A/C, DVD player, engine block heater, heated & power mirrors, and I know the door access code. It can seat 8 ADULT passengers, and it has the removable 3rd row seat for bigger cargo space. It is equipped with reverse sensor for easier parking, 2-inch hitch receiver. It has the tow package, but in 2004 the trailer break controller wasn’t included. The nice thing is this Excursion hasn’t been used to tow anything heavy in the past. Tires have fewer than 2,000 miles on them. The 6.0 can be just as reliable as the 7.3 if you fix the design flaw of the oil cooler, remove the casting sand from the water passages, add ARP head studs, ensure your FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module) has a constant 48 volts, and have a way to monitor oil & coolant temperatures. International was building the 6.0 faster than they could handle, in the process of providing engines for Ford casting sand was left in the motor. Combine casting sand and Ford’s Gold Coolant and you have 3 costly possible outcomes: 1) clogged oil cooler which will rupture then mix oil and coolant. 2) EGR cooler will clog then rupture. 3) Either of these can cause the engine temperatures to rise to the point that you blow head gaskets. I have documentation and will name some important improvements. This motor has been reverse flushed twice in the time I’ve owned it. Bullitt Proof Diesel (BPD) EGR cooler (a better design than Ford’s with large passages & lifetime warrantee), BPD oil cooler (this is a radiator style cooler which separates the coolant from the oil reducing oil temps drastically, also gets rid of the Ford oil filter on top of the motor and moves the Wix filter behind the bumper), BPD water pump (billet aluminum instead of plastic that disintegrates or breaks off over time), BPD 7.3 fan clutch and adapter (the 6.0 electric fan has a tendency to work sporadically. Added bonus is the front AC runs much cooler), HPOP (high pressure oil pump the original early HPOP was prone to failure which would starve the injectors) @ 91K, 8 new Ford injectors, new 2003 turbo (most desirable of the VGT), ficmrepair.com FICM with Ultra package and PHP Atlas 40 tune, new Bilstein 5100 shocks & steering stabilizer, breaks just done, transmission flushed & filter changed @ 100,000 miles, oil changed every 5,000 miles with Rotella T6 synthetic, 2 new batteries, ball joints and idler arm @ 85,000 miles, belts, coolant bypass filter installed (Wix filter), steering link and tie rods because there was a little play in the wheel. I also have a SCT FX4 that I use for monitoring the motor, it has the stock tunes on it. I haven’t added any custom tunes, even though you can get better fuel economy with them. The 60 HP tow tune provides the best fuel economy. Any 6.0 you look at ask 3 simple questions: does it have head studs? When was the last time the oil cooler and EGR cooler were changed (the BPD products will last the life of the truck, Ford’s oil cooler is good for 60,000-90,000 miles)? What are the DELTA’s at (DELTA= difference in oil & coolant temps)? If the oil temp is more than 15 degrees higher than the coolant temp it’s time for a new oil cooler. The BPD oil cooler runs 5-18 degrees cooler oil than the coolant, and will never fail again. On a tirp to Asheville, NC from Columbus, GA and back my EOT (engine oil temp) was 185, and my ECT (engine coolant temp) was 196 traveling 65-80 mph. I am selling this Excursion not because I want to, but because I have to. My family has out grown it, and with my elderly parents moving in I had to buy an 11-passenger van. In the future if you decide to sell this truck I would like to have the first shot at buying it back. When I bought the truck, it had 8-inches of lift, 37- inch tires, and it was all over the road. My plan was to keep this truck forever, buy a travel trailer, and travel the country with my wife and kids. My kids only eat in it during road trips, I’m very picky about the cleanliness of my truck, every spring I detail it, lube all zerk fittings, clean door jams, and inspect vehicle. 01/03/17 $55.87 Air Filter 12/12/16 $126.91 Tie Rods 10/31/16 $382.08 SSBC Big bite pads & slotted cross drilled front rotors 10/14/16 $934.44 Toyo Open Country A/T II LT285/75R16 10 ply tires 10/06/16 $2,539.09 install BPD parts, trans, and differential service 09/08/16 $3,250.30 BPD oil cooler, EGR, 7.3 fan clutch/6.0 adapter, & water pump 06/03/16 $599.68 AC front and rear complete service 05/15/16 $998.99 Alternator wiring kit & FICM 11/13/15 $260.00 Fuel tank service 07/22/15 $8,876.99 injectors, head studs, new sensors, Turbo,Y pipe, HPOP, all filters, trans, oil, coolant change, glow plugs, and more. That’s $18,024.35 not counting the oil changes every 5,000 miles, and the few receipts that I’ve lost. This truck will last another 300,000-500,000 miles. $500 PayPal deposit due at end of auction. I reserve the right to end auction early due to Excursion being sold locally. For the cost of fuel, hotel, and an airline ticket back to Atlanta I’m willing to deliver your new Excursion anywhere in the US (except Hawaii). Yes, I am willing to drive to Alaska, I was stationed in Anchorage between 1998-2002. If you want to fly to Atlanta I will pick you up, and we can run to the bank. The floor mats were out of the Excursion for the pictures, but they're clean and back in the Ex. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
