Vehicle Detail

The tires were heavily flat spotted so they also mounted and balanced a new set of BF Goodrich gForce COMP 2 A/S XL tires. (BFG markets these tires as their “best BFGoodrich's Best Ultra-High Performance All-Season Tire Ever”.) I’ve been driving the car this week and it’s definitely running great again. The car has never been raced so don’t ask me about quarter mile or track times. The only body work I’ve done is replace the stock hood with a Harwood 3” cowl induction hood and new convertible top when a friend’s son shot an arrow threw the roof. The convertible top is in good shape and the hydraulic motor with operates the top works fine also. The interior upholstery, floors, etc of the car is excellent condition. I’ve got pictures of every phase of the resto and how the car sits now. These will be provided upon request to the new buyer, along with receipt and other documentation for all the upgrades. The only work the car needs now is cosmetic. The exterior should be buffed and the ground effects could use a coat of titanium paint. I also just noticed the right-rear window motor may need to be replaced. Going forward, I will work on these issues one at a time until the right buyer takes the car home. It’s not perfect but, it is time now for someone else to enjoy. This car launches like a Saturn rocket and corners like a slot car. The engine sounds like Texas thunder, starts and runs great. I doubt there’s another “garage queen” like it but … who knows, maybe. Please ask any questions before bidding. The car will be sold as-is, but I’ll be happy to keep in touch with the buyer and provide any assistance needed to continue to maintain it like it has been maintained for the last 23+ years. On Jan-14-17 at 19:02:39 PST, seller added the following information: Battery and all tires have been replaced since these photos were taken. The only stock parts remaining on the car are the interior and frame, so mileage is "since complete restoration". Rear fairing has been primed and ready for paint. I'll post pictures with the convertible top up in a couple days but it's also in good condition and looks great. It's raining now in Austin but the car will be completely buffed and detailed for the buyer. On Jan-15-17 at 06:12:48 PST, seller added the following information: The second set of photo's (2) show the car in my garage, covered in sawdust and prior to recent work in the auto repair shop. On Jan-20-17 at 14:21:26 PST, seller added the following information: Ok, I'll answer the questions I've received here: how would you rate the paint on the exterior of the car (red) on a 1-5 scale? >> I would rate the exterior paint "3" primarily because it's an '88 car and 28+ years old. It's definitely a head tuner and the only real work it needs now is cosmetic. To keep the cost down, for example I would suggest first taking the car to a local "bumper shop" and ask them to paint the ground effects your choice of color. Some Mustang owners like to use the same color as the body of the car, others keep it original and go with titanium. I did take the car this morning to the detail shop and requested a $200 polish and wax. The unattractive coating of sawdust is GONE and the car looks great again. what is the condition of the clear cost, is it degenerating or peeling ? >> I had the front of the car re-painted when I installed the 3" Harwood cowl induction hood. They painted the hood and front fenders and blended to the original paint on the sides, so that part of the car is in nice condition. The sides and rear are original with less than "normal" wear and tear, although there are a few small dings. Most people have removed the trunk luggage carrier by now because it’s not all that attractive and it makes the trunk lid difficult to clean/wax. That is original though and there’s a small rust spot (the only rust on the whole car) that has formed over the years beside the rear middle brake light. >> how much HP/torque does the rebuilt engine produce (approx) well, short answer is I don't know. I designed the rebuild to resemble a factory original car. For example, the A/C blows COLD just like it should from the factory and the car past emissions on a regular basis when that was req'd in the past. Other 351W racing engines appear to be generating ~450 HP and ~450 ft/lbs torque. The new rear tires are grippy so it launches hard and gets up to the speed limit quickly. Promise, you won’t be disappointed. I've tried to be open and honest about the condition of the car. As I mentioned, it's not perfect but it's nicer than most and there's plenty of life remaining. I'm selling because I haven't driven the car in ~9 years and it needs someone else to enjoy it now. I drove it to the wash/detail shop today with the convertible top down and drew a couple "thumbs up" from other drivers. If anyone has bid on the car and wants out, I'm happy to remove them from the active bidding (if someone will show me how :). If you have any other questions, pls ask before you bid.
