Vehicle Detail
I have for sale a "barn find" 1970 C3 Chevy Corvette 350 SBC. Its an 300 H.P/380 T.Q, 4 speed automatic. Little history:The original owner bought this car brand new and owned it until he passed away a few months ago. The vehicle was last used either in the late 1980's or early 1990's and has been parked inside a garage ever since. Keep in mind the garage was a non-insulated, no window garage. The vehicle is 100 percent original, numbers matching, factory air conditioning and power steering. The car only has 36,278 original miles. The vehicle was parking inside a garage as mentioned above and was completely covered but was still exposed to the elements of the weather, the heat and cold. The body for being all original does look good, the paint appears to be in good shape for a 46 year old car. There are some minor paint chips but the paint still looks good. The vehicle has not been on the road for over 25 plus years and needs to be gone through. The car rolls, turns but I have not tried to start it. The motor as you can tell has surface rust on the intake manifold, and all components. The radiator and gas tank both hold fluid and do not leak. I bought this car with the intentions to rebuild the carburetor, change the plugs, wires, some fresh gas and drive around as is. The more I look at the car, the more I realize that I'm just not a corvette fanantic and would rather focus on my other projects. Some observations I made with the vehicle are as follows: -Interior is clean minus the driver-side carpet with no fading, rips or tears -The T-tops come off easily and shows no signs of rust -The doors open and close smoothly -The body does not have and dings or dents, just a few paint chips-The bottom of the driver side door has rust (not visible and does not affect the structural part)-Windows go up and down-The front lower chrome grill has some slight pitting/rust-The passenger-side head light has paint chips-The hood latch needs to be adjusted but hood closes smoothly but doesn't release easily -I posted some photos of the bird cage area and the surface rust appears worse in the pictures then in person. from what I can see, the rust does not penetrate through on the driver-side. On the passenger-side right where the fender meets I can't tell if its rusted or just how the factory cage is made. Again I'm not a corvette guy, I am not trying to mislead anyone either. If you have any questions ask me, I am not familiar with corvettes and am just looking to sell her to someone who will enjoy it. No reserve auction Vehicle is being sold as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. On Dec-12-16 at 18:29:04 PST, seller added the following information: I forgot to add in the original listing, the windshield is cracked on the passengerside. The crack goes from top to bottom. On Dec-15-16 at 12:23:53 PST, seller added the following information: I have been asked numerous times if the motor spins freely. I do not know nor do I want to try. The car has been siting for 25 plus years and I am not going to attempt to start it without properly fogging all cylinders to lubricant them to prevent and damage from having a bone dry cylinder. The motor could very well be seized or it could spin freely, I do not know the answer. The car is being sold as a barn find.
