Vehicle Detail
Up for grabs is this really nice original paint 1966 Dodge Charger survivor loaded with the best options. This Charger retains its original drive train 361 big block V8, and 727 transmission. It is complete from front to back with no missing parts-(which is very important for the early Chargers as there are so many 66-67 model specific parts). You can drive this one just the way it is or restore it with very little investment because of the wonderful shape it is in. This Charger left the factory with a rare and beautiful zz1 gold poly exterior, and citron interior. It is equipped with power windows, console clock, factory a/c, power steering and power brakes. Mechanically, the car solid. The engine runs smooth with no knocks and pings, does not smoke, and idles great. The transmission pulls firmly, and shifts great. The brakes work ok, I had new booster and master cylinder installed, but the shoes probably need adjustment. I also had a reman compressor, and evaporator installed, but have not gotten to having the lines re-made. I have a new drier and expansion valve for it to convert over to 134a. Also new or recently replaced is the water pump, fan clutch, distributor(electronic), wires, plugs, oil and filter, air filter, heater control valve, and a re-build for the carburetor. Electrical items that do not operate are: blower fan, radio, rear windows, gauge lights(power pack for elect. lighting is bad), clock(spins really fast when plugged in), hideaway motors, and the only working gauges are the ammeter and tach. The interior is nice and just had new Legendary seat covers installed with a new carpet set. The body is nice for its age and being un-restored. There are three rust spots on the car, one on each corner of the back glass, and a small spot above the trunk medallion. There are also a couple of small rust spots in the trunk where water got in from the rear window. The floors are solid in the cabin area as well as every other area not mentioned as being rusty. The frame rails are perfect all the way through. There are a few dings and scratches in the paint on the car and the paint on the roof is fading in a few spots. The driver side front fender has a dent and is pictured along with the exterior rust spots. Overall, this 1966 Charger is a wonderful car to own and drive, and although it is not perfect, Everyone who sees it loves the originality and patina that comes with a fifty year old original car. You will enjoy it just as much! I require a $500.00 non-refundable deposit within 24hrs of auction end and would like to have the car picked up within two weeks of auction end. I can take additional photos if you would like, just ask, and I am happy to talk to you, or show the car if you live around Houston TX.
