1970 HONDA MINI TRAIL CT70H MULTIPLE SHOW WINNER! 10th Annual Boca Raton Concours d’ Elegance: Best In Class Dania Beach Vintage Auto Show: People Choice 17th Annual Riding Into History Motorcycle Show: Best in Class Lake Mirror Classic Auto Festival 2016: Best in Class Up for auction is a Beautiful 1970 Honda Mini-Trail CT70H! The H model is the 4-speed manual clutch model and is the rarest of the Honda CT 70’s, only being produced only in 1970, 71, 72. This Mini Trail 70 was restored by me. This was going to be my last CT restoration and this bike was going to be mine. I finished the work and kept it for a couple of years and rode it around the neighborhood. I then decided it was time to let it go. Had to make room for different projects. It was purchased by a gentleman in Florida, who has since become a friend, and he decided to enter it in a couple of Classic Auto/Motorcycle shows near his home. Well, to make a long story short, the Honda CT did very well! I went 4 for 4 in entered competition! I have included the photos of the awards with the photos of the bike. This restoration was not intended to be a show bike but it turned out quite well! The restoration brought the frame down to bare metal and then primed and painted. The paint was professionally applied (which I didn’t do. I can paint, but not like this!), and wet sanded. All metal pieces that were painted from the factory were sandblasted and resprayed with proper colors. The original color was kept on the bike and is correct for the year. All of the chrome pieces that were serviceable were re-chromed. I wanted to keep as many original parts as possible. If replacement parts were used they were all new old stock, or quality re-manufactured replacements from CHP Honda or Dr. Atv. The pictures hopefully speak for themselves. The handlebar triple tree was polished and new handlebars were installed. New grips and factory Honda cables for the front brake and clutch. Speedometer and all lights work like they should. The wheels were fully dis-assembled and the drums were resurfaced and new brake shoes were installed on the polished brake backing plates with 2 new tubes and tires. In the picture the front and rear wheel bolts are showing rusty. They have since been replaced with factory Honda hardware. A new seat was installed with a factory Honda tool kit strapped in its location underneath. A new battery was installed. The wiring harness and ignition set are original to the bike. The engine has had a full rebuild and runs flawlessly. No shifting issues, no fuel or oil leaks. The exhaust system is brand new and perfect as well. There are three issues with the bike. The seat on the driver’s side has had a rivet pull through the seat material. This should be a very easy fix. Secondly, the horn stopped working. I have not had a chance to look at the bike to diagnose, but the horn is a very simple circuit and should be easy to track down. The last issue is a paint blemish near the ignition switch. It is shown in the picture. This was done be me during the final assembly. The ignition ring tool slipped off and scratched that paint. Needless to say I was mad. Those are the issues. It will not take much work to make this Mini-Trail a 97 – 100 point show bike. Or, you could have the coolest Honda in the neighborhood or RV Park! This motorcycle is located in Jupiter, Florida.
