You are bidding on a 1976 RD400 that went through a frame up restoration about 3 years ago. When I restored it I wanted it to look like the British version as pictured on the Haynes manual. I have never understood why Yamaha sold them in Europe in this paint scheme and not in the US. I had the tank decals made locally and got the side cover and seat decals from England. The seat is a 78 RD400E unit that I salvaged with new foam and seat cover. All decals have been clear coated. The frame was media blasted and panted with single stage urethane and tapered neck bearings were installed. New fork seals were installed. The tank has a new petcock and is rust free inside. No coating was used. I also installed a quick disconnect for the balance fuel line. New coils have been installed as well as genuine Yamaha points and condenser. The engine cases have been split and resealed as well and new seals installed. The oil injection is installed and working as well as the self canceling turn signals. Even a new horn has been installed. Electric power comes from an AGM battery. The bike has new tires and an oring chain. It also comes with the original tool kit. It is a numbers matching bike. The seat rails have two tiny nicks in the paint as can be seen in the photos. The mufflers have some scratches and a couple of small nicks from use. The front fender has a small dent. The rest of the paint is dent and scratch free. the original speedometer was broken when I got the bike and I replaced it with a nice used one from Ebay. My listed mileage of 500 is based on since restoration. I also found a set of standard bore cylinders and installed them so you are getting a rare find. This bike runs great. It reminds us of what RDs were like. I just put 80 miles on it two weeks ago. It is very capable of exceeding the speed limit. I admit that I don't ride it very much and that is why I'm selling it.
