For power, she has a strong, solid, twin turbo, 4.4-liter V8 engine that is mated to a 7-speed, dual clutch, automated manual (DCT) transmission. With the DCT you can choose to shift gears by squeezing the shift paddles on the steering wheel or by bumping the console-mounted lever back and forth. Either way you choose, the process is executed quickly, smoothly and intuitively. The steering feel was excellent and the car responded to inputs eagerly, accurately, and naturally. The chassis was always eager to be leaned on, delivering its tenacious grip with steady balance and great stability and it retains BMW's typical nearly 50/50 front-to-rear weight distribution. I have always admired the handling/power balance in the M series and it remains one of its most enjoyable features. This car is solid and built rigidly like a rock without a single rattle or an aggravating sound, phenomenal braking capabilities, precise handling and long distance comfort make this BMW bulletproof in its reliability. It always provides some form of thrill. Traction control allows some wheel spin, without totally loosing control. Acceleration cannot be beat, the car’s iconic status and distinctive, sporting personality remain intact.
