0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false I am selling my personally owned 2004 Mercedes Benz SL 500 Hardtop Convertible This Mercedes Benz is in phenomenal condition. In fact it’s probably one of the nicest examples of an older SL500 available in the country today. It is obvious that it was and continues to be garage kept. The car starts right up, and runs and drives perfectly. The transmission shifts as it should. The brakes stop well. And it runs down the road straight and true. It is in unbelievable condition compared to most of the cars of similar year I see come through my shop. We are a wholesaler and make our living buying and selling cars through the dealer auctions. We only retail the best, cleanest units we get to the public, however this car is coming out of my personal collection. It is finished in a beautiful and classy silver paint that still maintains its shine. The beautiful grey leather interior looks to be well kept tidy and clean the ONLY sign of wear is a tiny bit of wear in the leather on the driver’s outer seat bolster. This particular SL 500 has only traveled 59k miles in its pampered life. That’s right only 5200 miles a year. It has never seen bad weather nor been driven in winter conditions. While in my possession it has never even seen rain. If the forecast called for the possibility of rain it sat at home in the garage while I drove one of my other vehicles. These SL 500’s are extremely rare and sought after. They are probably one of the best grand touring roadsters ever produced. They turn heads wherever they go, and they offer the practicality of a retractable hard top as opposed to a fabric convertible top. This particular example is absolutely loaded. Bixenon Headlamps, Power windows, locks, mirrors, power seats, heated seats, anti lock brakes, cruise control, and dual climate control with Ice cold air. The car rides on an almost new set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires ($250+ each) mounted to a beautiful set of brand new (less than 1000 miles) Lorinser SLR style wheels ($1700) These wheels give the car a sleek and more modern appearance similar to its SLR big brother. This vehicle rides smooth and tracks straight at 80 mph +. I have the original wheels as well, however the paint had started to fade on them and they detracted a bit from the otherwise brand new appearance of this roadster. The new buyer is welcome to the wheels if they prefer to return the car to stock, although they should really be refinished. There are no check engine lights, strange noises or issues. The engine is quiet, smooth and powerful. The transmission shifts as it should, and the car feels very planted and sure-footed on the road. The retractable hardtop works as designed and operates smoothly and quietly with no strange noises. The factory windscreen is also in place. With the windscreen and windows up this car was quieter than my bmw 3 series convertible with the top up. It can adjust from providing a serene open air experience to classic wind in your hair open top motoring with just a few adjustments. The adjustable sports suspension has the ability to transform the car from a smooth and comfortable grand tourer into a near road race car with the push of a button. The in cabin entertainment system was completely revamped in 2014. The navigation system was dated and CD based. No new map updates were available, and its was cumbersome to use and often inaccurate. I decided to remove the entire system and start again to upgrade the in car entertainment and multimedia to what one would expect in a six figure car in 2015. The old command head unit was swapped for a double din Eclipse 7” Widescreen unit with touch screen controls. This offers CD, MP3, DVD video, as well as USB and ipod control. It also allows you to pair your mobile phone and have hands free Bluetooth conversations OR stream Bluetooth audio. This deck alone was over $1200. After that all of the speakers were upgraded to a combination of JL Audio and Focal. Including the factory subwoofer. The entire system is powered by an 850 watt JL Audio amplifier mounted in the trunk. The system sound phenomenal top up or top down and offers amenities that rival or exceed what Mercedes Benz currently offers in their 2015 SL’s. Finally the front Grille was replaced with the one from the 2009-14 SL500’s. I have the original Grille as well if the owner prefers. The carpets have been protected since day one and I have both the original carpet mats, as well as the OEM Mercedes all weather mats pictured in the car. Both sets come with the vehicle. Both keys are included and all of the original owners manuals are in place. I am the third owner. The first owner leased the car for 3 years and it traveled 20,662 miles in his hands until the end of the lease. The Mercedes Benz dealership he returned the lease to turned around and sold the car to the second owner as a certified Pre Owned Vehicle – giving it a bumper to bumper warranty for 6 years or 100k miles. I purchased the car from the 2nd owner. I spent 6 months looking for the perfect SL500 before purchased this vehicle. The car will come with a fresh oil change for the new owner. No expense was ever spared maintaining this Mercedes Benz ensuring years of trouble free operation in the future. It has been professionally detailed on a regular basis and hand washed religiously in between. This car represents an extraordinary value. Movie Star looks, with a documented low mileage example of a six figure car for less than the price of a Honda Civic. The only flaw that I can find is a ¾ of an inch scratch on the passenger side fender. I have included over 50 detailed photographs of every aspect of the car for your perusal. Overall it’s a VERY nice car especially for the year. I would rate it a 9.5 /10 overall and I’m VERY picky with cars. I tend to be overly critical and under describe cars, but I’d rather you be impressed when you get your new car rather than disappointed due to the unrealistic descriptions that many dealers offer. Our retail lot is located at 69 Groveville Road, (corner of Rt 130 and Groveville Road) in Bordentown, NJ. Any inspections must take place on site at our facility, and be concluded before the end of the auction. NJ residents MUST pay 7% sales tax in addition to the winning price of the bid. No exceptions. Out of state residents must pay their own taxes when they go to register the car in their local municipality. All purchasers (including dealers) must pay a $199 documentation fee, which covers the cost of overnight mail and title transfer, ebay fees etc. Temporary vehicle tags are available to both in state and out of state residents, they cost $25. Non-resident temp tags are valid for 20 days from the date of issuance. Resident temp tags are valid for 30 days from the date of issuance. All cars are sold as-is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. All retail customers will be obligated to sign an as-is where is acknowledgement as part of the purchase paperwork.
