Vehicle Detail

1974-1/2 Maico 250/ 400 GP Ready to race or add to your collection. Just so its clear, This GP was a 74.5 GP 250 when it was born, but later changed crank,Rod& berring, piston, barrel, head, small clutch and pipe by Maico Only to make it a GP400.This bike has been parked and not ridden since the 2001 Lake Elsinore Grand Prix where I rode a 40 minute moto and decided it was too hard for me race and finance my kids' racing. That was to be my last race. This bike is now like new, a real GP bike, not a rework! The frame numbers can verify a real 74-1/2. I have owned this bike for decades and when I use to ride it, it rode like a dream but it could go much faster than I could ever ride it. It has been mostly sitting in my garage and recently I went through it with the help of Maico Only and had a new crank built with new rod, bearing, piston and rings, which were then sent out and balanced. It has a mint condition late model small clutch with new springs and new bronze plates. New shift forks were also installed in the engine refresh. Motoplat electronic ignition, 36 mm Mikuni carb and new air filter. New chain, new Dunlops on polished Excel wheels with Buchanans heavy duty stainless spokes. New high tech brake shoes, ground to fit. Nice tall GP seat on top of Works performance rear shocks and hard chrome front forks finish off the suspension. The bike comes with two pipes - a 1971-72 original with no dents (and no silencer, like the old days) and a new Wheel Smith reproduction pipe made by Maico Only for vintage/ARMA racing. Also has fiberglass fenders installed and a 2nd yellow plastic unbreakable set for racing. 1975 side panels fitted for a clean look. Original GP aluminum Works gas tank. Renthal handle bars with Gunner gasser throttle. I'm sure I'm forgetting something so if you have any questions or want close up pictures, let me know. The bike starts in only a couple kicks but I don't have enough leg to kick so my son kicks it for me. If this is a bike on your wanted list, it could be yours! I have the pink slip for it!
