Vehicle Detail

Last year I bought this 1969 Toyota Corona from a customer of mine who drove it as her first car in high school. It got garaged in 1998 with a melted piston and didn't see daylight again until I bought it with 85,245 miles showing (see dusty version in image album). My goal was to rebuild the engine and bring all mechanics up to to par which I believe has been accomplished. Here is a general list of what has been done: Engine: Crank polished, crankcase boiled/cleaned, deck and head machined, valves lapped, new cam/crank bearings, all gaskets/seals new, new pistons/rings, entire clutch assembly/TO bearing is new, freshly rebuilt carb, custom (stock style) exhaust system, new battery, all tuneup parts are new and the proper plugs were used to delete the air injection and EGR systems. Chassis: New brake shoes, brake drums have been machined, new wheel cylinders, new clutch master/slave cylinders, new brake master cylinder, new tires, one new tie rod, trans/diff oil is new and the gas tank has been cleaned, primed and painted to prevent rust. This is a original numbers matching car that needs to be driven. My enjoyment came from the rebuild but with only about 65 miles driven after being brought back to life I just can't justify keeping it. Registration is current and title is in hand. I've got a tall stack of receipts for machine work and parts, most of which came from Corona expert and parts supplier Carlyn Dinkler. The flaws I can think of are: A/C compressor has been removed, suspension has settled slightly lower on the drivers side then passenger side, driver's seat is split and lastly there are a few small bubbles in the paint (see picture album). Otherwise a very solid survivor. Picture Album On Jul-23-16 at 09:31:24 PDT, seller added the following information: I've added a few other pictures to the image gallery and also wanted to mention a few things that have come up from memory and discussing with bidders. In the engine rebuild I forgot to mention that rod bearings were also done and flywheel was machined. Both original black California license plates are on the car and the ignition/door key is the original Toyota item (trunk key is different). There is a bit of rust on the right side of the trunk on the inner fender, rest of body and frame is as rust free as a 47 year old car can be. Here's a link to a video I made of the first drive after getting it back on the road. I was using a different carburetor at that point that didn't have a working automatic choke which made the cold idle very low. I've sense installed a professionally rebuilt carb that starts very nice. Sorry for the music, I wasn't planning on selling when I made it.
