Vehicle Detail
1979 Volare Premier wagon 318/904/8 1/4 16-20 mpg 96K documented original 2 owner miles. I drive this car about 150 miles every week and this is a great, rust-free, reliable classic car that can be driven every day; I wouldn't hesitate to drive it cross-country right now. The car was sold new in Tennessee and spent most of its life in South Carolina and Virginia. There is one dime-sized surface rust spot on the passenger quarter and that's it for rust but there are some dings here and there. The paint is Chestnut brown and could use a new coat. The original woodgrain trim has been removed and painted over. The chrome is in decent condition but as is common with F-bodies, the grille is pretty brittle. The interior is tan and the wipers, lights, AM/FM stereo, horn and even the ignition buzzer all work the way they should. The air conditioner works and blows cold. The seats are firm and comfortable. The dashpad is soft with no cracks. Some of the plastic trim panels are getting brittle. It comes with 15" Magnum 500s on BFG Radials. The rear tires are fairly new with about 5000 miles on them but the front tires are about ready to be replaced. Steering is tight, it tracks straight and it handles and brakes the way it should. The 318 is original and unrebuilt but I recently replaced the timing chain, water pump, radiator and fan clutch. Its quiet, starts immediately and idles smoothly. Its not a racecar but is pretty torquey and has no problem keeping up with daily traffic. The transmission shifts smoothly and the rear end doesn't make any noise. Like I said, I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car anywhere. Overall, youre looking at a good, solid, reliable, no-rust Southern car that can be driven daily or toss a hot small block at it and make it a Saturday Night Special sleeper while hauling anything you can fit in it. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Buyer is responsible for pickup and a non-refundable $500 deposit is due at the conclusion of the auction. I will not reveal the reserve until after the auction.
