Vehicle Detail
1982 Honda GL-1100 Gold Wing. Engine number - SC02E-2211863. 2682 original miles (2106 when I bought it). Very nice condition. This is the "Boss's" personal bike; otherwise we usually only do original restorations. This bike is only "slightly" non-stock with chrome engine covers, different handlebars, fork springs and a fork brace. We have located other projects that require immediate attention, so are letting this beauty go. The new handlebars are from a CB-750. The chrome belt covers are new; the chrome valve covers do have a few very small specks of rust just on the top. I have inserted gold "SE" letters from a GL-1500 in the small indentation on the valve covers. The original bars from this bike are excellent and the original valve & belt covers are very nice (some oxidation under clear coat) and will go with the bike. All original cables are used with the shorter bars - just rerouted to function correctly. I also found an original front fork air pressure decal for the new bars. I have also installed a chrome fork brace. The original front master cylinder angle was wrong to work with these 750 bars. I have installed a new polished master cylinder that is in the correct position for these bars (original master cylinder included in sale). Original manual and tool kit with tire gauge in original pouch. I have a much better/more accurate tire gauge than the stock unit. This bike had sat for many years when I purchased it from the original owner. For that reason, the entire cooling system has been gone through with all major components replaced (water pump, thermostat, etc, etc). We decided to also replace the head gaskets along with full valve inspection and cleaning. The inside of the fuel tank is excellent, so we didn't have to bother with treating it. Complete carb(s) overhaul with all new jets and gaskets with new air cut off valves. Syncronized - and the bike starts, idles runs and shifts beautifully. It pulls very hard with no stuttering or hesitation at any speed. Both front and rear master cylinders were rebuilt along with all three brake calipers. New brake pads all around. New fork seals with Progressive brand springs. Both front and rear suspension units hold air very well with very minimal loss over a couple months time. Other new items include: Timing belts, battery, fuel filter and lines and all radiator hoses. The steering stem bearings have been properly greased (done very light to none from factory), swing arm pivot properly lubed, rear shaft drive oil changed and drive splines cleaned and re-lubed with Moly 60 paste. It has all been done and/or checked on this bike! I have ridden over 500 miles on the original tires, but you can find some fine cracking on them and should be replaced due to age and safety concerns. I have just installed an '83 Gold Wing speedometer solely because I can't stand the look of the 80 mph speedo's of the early eighties (pic included of original speedo). As you can see from the pictures, the '83 speedo shows 11778 miles. This unit was as low on mileage as I could find in new condition. Everything original that was removed will be included to put it back to original (if one chooses to). I also purchased an original Interstate trunk and rack to accommodate a passenger in comfort and for them to have nice secure handle holds on the rack. Nice to have some storage when needed, too. I have ran with the rack alone, strapping down gear on it. The upper trunk lid was used and does have some small nicks and scratches, but not that noticeable. Lower trunk half is a new (NOS) part. Keys are included for the trunk and rack. I cut off all the large saddlebag attaching brackets on the rack to give it a much cleaner look and removed the huge "HONDA" emblem on the trunk lid. I installed a new emblem - the same as the ones on the side covers. The 7 volt regulator that controls the water temp and fuel gauges has been replaced with a new improved unit. The originals always go bad eventually, so this is already done for you in advance of the failure. New air filter (stock original looks new). The only thing not functioning properly is the self-cancelling turn signal system. I am not used to them, so don't use the system, but seldom works when I check it. I have read where this fairly common for them to work intermittently. If the winning bidder does not want the trunk and rack, I will give a price adjustment for not including them. Please be aware that if you are going to leave ignorant comments (what is wrong with these people??) about the bike, I WILL add them to the listing as entertainment for all to enjoy. Thanks for looking! Note: Love Machine Racing has been professionally restoring bikes for nearly 40 (200+ bikes restored) years specializing in Honda and has sold bikes around the world. On May-18-16 at 14:47:44 PDT, seller added the following information: I want to let any potential and current bidders know there have been several attempts tp sabotage this listing. I am now getting insulting vulgar e mails (to my personal e mail, not eBay messages) from 56 year old Gerald (Jerry) Werner from the Racine Wisconsin area. I had a neighbor in law enforcement do a background check on him because of his last nastygram. Ebay checked by name and e mail address and Werner does not have an eBay account/user name. If you are contacted by someone that tells you negative things about the bike, listing or me - it is 100% BS - Ignore it! The main thing he always refers to is that the bike is not worth anything. And now assorted name calling. He is definitely off his rocker and/or meds. I am sorry for this inconvenience and have never had any crazy issues with selling a bike on eBay like this. It really makes me wonder what the real story or issue is with him (and possible eBay buddies) because it makes no sense.
