This bus is the Holy Grail...a one owner VW BUS from 1977. The bus was owned by a man in Texas from 1977 until this year when it was sold by his estate. The man lived in Texas and after his death the bus was shipped to Northern California for storage over the last year. I bought the bus from his estate through an auction. On July 26, 1984 the owner entered his last gas purchase at mileage point 92947...after that he retired the bus and bought a new one according to his family. According to his daughter the man intended to restore this bus one day...but that day never came. So the bus apparently was sitting from 1984 until now. As you might suspect the engine was frozen at this point. Since the bus was stored in non-running condition I had it towed to a reliable VW Bus shop in Northern California where I spent $3,500 getting the engine rebuilt and new brakes, suspension parts, and a thorough inspection of what was needed. The bus now runs great...and has passed the California Emissions Test. This owner was meticulous about his bus...he wrote down every expense from the day he got the bus until he stopped using it....I have the records in a note book of every time he bought gas, had work done, etc. The interior is in excellent condition. The bus comes with a full size roof rack. Some rust on roof and minimal under windows. While I am in Maryland...the bus is still in Northern California. No reserve so one bid could take this bus.
