Rare 58 Color Shetland Grey Metallic. This Late May 57 built convertible sits on it's original pan, with original engine, 1973619. Body is 40010,which is interesting because it is an oval period body! Bodies were sent off to Karmann to be modified so you sometimes see earlier convertible bodies than you would think! vin is 1626281. Interesting thread on the Samba under early big window convertibles! Have owned for about 4 years, very good running car, have put about 10,000 miles on her since I bought! new Seat covers, and rubber mats! Has Early Oval rear-view mirror, newer style mirror happened mid 1958 model production! Brand new Canvas Boot cover. Car was restored in 1998-2000. At that time new canvas top was installed. Bow has split above rear glass, note the dimple in top. Needs new headliner. Turn signals, horn, all electric in working order. Original radio present, but not working. Newer transmission Boots, brakes good! Still has original non-syncro Transmission which I believe is also Original to car! Original Choke present and works great! Pretty much just driven in summer months, always garaged! Work in Philadelphia so have often driven down 95 with car! Has some surface rust at bottom of spare tire well, have treated it with a rust kill chemical. Actually very clean! Happy to show Car, just let me know! Located in Frenchtown NJ 08825
