Vehicle Detail

Here is a car that has spent its life in Southern California. A beautiful, 2 door 1965 Galaxie 500, LTD. ("J" code, made in Los Angeles, Ca., "Z" code 390, 4bbl, "67" code LTD model.) This is a virtually RUST FREE car, the floorboards, trunk, rockers etc. are rust free. The underside of the car has never been detailed and is pretty clean. Note the coveted California "black plates". Original 390 V8 engine and is equipped with factory air conditioning. I have the original stainless rocker side moldings and the 4 stainless wheel moldings and they will go with the car. I sort of like the black out look and was actually toying with the idea of making a Highway Patrol, Police pursuit vehicle clone. Crazy things you do when you get old. The carpet, door panels and black headliner are new. The red seats are in good condition with no tears or wear spots. Mechanically, the 390, 4bbl starts and runs strong and it does not smoke or burn oil. The stock engine compartment is ok but needs a good detail. The transmission shifts very smoothly with no issues. The carburetor is new, as is the alternator. The 2 stage paint is fresh and has a great shine. Some of the original chrome could use re-chroming if you want it perfect. The factory air conditioning is complete inside the car and the firewall parts, blower motor etc. but it does need a compressor and condenser, the easier parts to find, otherwise the dash unit and firewall parts, switches etc., are intact. Needs trunk rubber and some window whiskers and some rubber is old. Good, dry San Diego 2 door cars are increasingly difficult to find. The title is clean and the registration was updated for the year just last week. In the Ford family of Mustang, Fairlane, and Falcon for 1965, the LTD was the big gun. Paul Niedermeyer stated about the Galaxie 500LTD "Headline superlatives are a slippery slope, but I’m standing on pretty solid ground here: this is the car that completely changed the marketplace, the car that launched what I have dubbed the Great Brougham Epoch. Hail what may well be the single most influential American car of the whole modern era. Prior to the LTD’s arrival in 1965, “luxury” was just not an overtly promoted quality in the low price brands, largely in deference to the more expansive brands in the Big Three’s portfolios. That’s what Cadillacs, Lincolns, and Imperials were for. The 1965 LTD was not really a separate model until 1967; it started as a trim package available for the Galaxie 500. And not a cheap one: for an extra 20% over the price of the Galaxie 500." Please understand that the term rust free pertains to deep damaging rust that has penetrated the metal, other than surface rust. This LTD has only minimal areas of surface rust under the car as shown on the chassis that could be removed by an abrasive pad. No body rust at all.
