Here is my precious, long time vintage BMW racer, for sale. Purchased it in the early `90s directly from Germany. It had been registered with their VFV (Veteranen Fahrzeug Verband) . as Baujahr (year built) 1938 stamped into a bronze plaque at rear fender. Rahmen Nr. 8430 (frame number) . So far I could not locate this number. Started scraping some spots at the frame, where it should be , without results. Did not want to remove more paint. For the racing days it really did not matter. Registration Nr. 527 (believe VFV only) Engine # 520070, 500 cc At Bley Engineering in Elk Grove,Il. we had the means and knowledge to update the engine to compete in the vintage class. It came with the factory "low range" gear box which required a lot of clutch slipping from the starting line. New crankshaft was built with Carillo rods and spline shaft drive. New aluminum cylinders. New cyl.heads and aluminum rocker arms ,with the intake draft angle copied from the RS54. Within 3 years of vintage racing I was able to land 13 first places (Mid Ohio,DeLand, N.Hampshire, BMW Classic Cup,(2 First in Show)) unfortunetly only 2nd in Daytona (1997) with competitors half my age. Therefore 2 "Best in Show" in Daytona.
