Vehicle Detail
This vehicle is being relisted as the original buyer did not pay! 1966 Deluxe Ford Ranchero 289 V-8 High Output 4-Barrel Cruisomatic 3-Speed Automatic Power Steering Power Brakes Factory Air Conditioning Full Wheel Covers This is a beautifully restored STOCK Ranchero. If you like it stock …look at this one! It is a pleasure to drive! It runs, shifts and stops very well. It’s quick!! To the best of our knowledge, everything is original…from the body, to the trim, to the running gear. The insignias were replaced as they were tarnished. This Ranchero was purchased from the Pioneer Auto Museum in Murdo, S.D. Several insurance cards and the old title indicate it came from California. It was complete with all trim and only some minor door dings – no damage, no rust, very solid, and just in need of an interior redo and new paint. It appears to be all original. The engine and transmission had been gone through and it ran great. I drove it to work for two weeks before the restoration just to identify and work out any bugs. I have driven it over a thousand miles with no problems. It really is fun to drive! A complete strip down was done … all trim, glass, side windows, etc. were removed before a professional strip and repaint was undertaken. The color is close to the original but with more life. The cat whiskers, door rubbers, etc. were all replaced. The bumpers and bed corners were re-chromed. All trim was cleaned and polished. The only rust we found was on the front floor pans, which were replaced with new replacements. Everything else is solid … bottoms of the doors, fenders, rockers, bed, rear floor pans. The interior was completely redone. Seat covers, door panels, headliner and carpet were replaced with factory identical fabrics, foam and designs. The original jack and tools are there, along with the spare. All the glass but the windshield was reused. The windshield had started to delaminate on the edges, so a new replacement was installed. The only items not stock: The 4-barrel carburetor was replaced with an Edelbrock with electric choke on the original manifold. A Sony AM-FM Pushbutton Radio replaced the original AM only model. It works! The interior of the bed was coated with bedliner. An auxiliary oil pressure gauge was added. The light still works. The full wheel covers are correct and are extremely rare! New plugs, wires, cap, etc. were installed and the engine was detailed. The truck is equipped with the optional 4-way flasher in the glove box. It works. Headlamps, taillights, back-up lights, turn lights and license light all work. The heater has been by-passed, but discreetly. The original AC is complete. The compressor is bad and noisy. The clutch and dash switch work correctly, as does the fan. We had it converted and tried it, but the AC man said “change the compressor”… but it looks original. A replacement can be found on eBay for $150 to $225; however, most all old cars in south Florida replace it with a new high efficiency pump. NPD lists a complete compressor with brackets and all for the 289 for $420, others for less, but then it doesn’t look stock. The Ranchero odometer shows about 24,170 miles …I’m still driving it. It had about 23,100 miles when I purchased it. I have a California title dated 11/27/99 from the California owner to the museum that shows 72,850 miles. In driving it to a car show last weekend (and winning First Place in the Stock Class) I noticed the dash board indicator light for the right turn signals is not flashing. The turn signals work properly, just not the indicator light. The left works properly. Come look and drive it…drive it home if you’d like. It’s not perfect but it’s very nice and runs great. The Ranchero is located in Punta Gorda, Florida. We’ll gladly pick you up at the Ft. Myers or our local airport. Please call or contact us through eBay with any questions.
