Vehicle Detail
1973 VW Thing (totally restored)$24,900Has been restored to a wonderful looking and driving fun summer car. With its upgraded 1600cc twin carb engine, it is a joy to drive on all types of roads. With the attention to detail during the restoration, there is nothing left for its new owner to do. It's ready for your trip to the beech or to get that Saturday morning cup of coffee. The Volkswagen Type 181 was a four-door, two-wheel drive, off-road convertible manufactured by Volkswagen from 1968 to 1983. The Type 181 was originally developed for the West German Army, but was also sold to the public. The Thing had many names: the Kurierwagen in West Germany, the Trekker (RHD Type 182) in the United Kingdom, the Thing in the United States (1973–74), the Safari in Mexico and South America, and Pescaccia in Italy. The Type 181 shared some of its mechanical parts with Volkswagen’s Type 1 (Beetle) and the pre-1968 Volkswagen Microbus, and shared the floorplan with the Type1 Karmann-Ghia.The VW is being offered locally and on other web sites, we reserve the right to stop the auction before its completion. The vehicle is being sold "as is" with no warranty stated or implied. All inspections of the Thing, must be done before the end of the auction. For more pics, check out Central Classic CarsPlease feel free to call with questions, Chuck at 419-618-3855
