1978 Dodge Diplomat 4dr Estate Wagon (aka the family truckster) NO RESERVE A real part of Americana, a 70s station wagon w/ faux wood this is one car I really hate to sell. But if we do we do. Chances of finding another one for around this price.. slim to none. BRIEF DESCRIPTION: a buddy of mine has been taking care of this car for his older customer for about 20 yrs. Until about a yr ago they decide to park it because she couldnt drive well at her age. Gas in the tank doesnt smell bad, for for now Im running the car off a small container of fresh gas under the hood. I may actually connect it back on Monday and see if all the fuel pump etc is still functional from the pump back to the tank. After getting fuel to the carb, within a few cranks the car fired right up and idles fine. Ive driven it around our large parking lot a few times too. Trans and brakes feel okay too. PS works, AC blows and actually feels cold too considering the temps here have been around 70 during the day. DONT BID UNLESS YOU HAVE THE FUNDS IN HAND, apparently some people who use ebay arent smart enough to understand the rules. So if you have under 10 feedbacks, Ill be emailing you if you bid to make sure you are legit, if we do please reply or we will cancel your bid. Up for Auction: LOW FAIR RESERVE !!! These cars are getting harder to find esp in this condition that are still affordable to most buyers. DRIVETRAIN: this car has its factory V8 318 and bone stock basically Under the hood. Was maintained very well for the last 20 yrs (until it had sat for about a yr now) Motor has no weird smoke or noises coming from it., auto trans goes into gear fine and brakes work well too. The car has decent power for its 70s lean burn technology, surprised me. I expected less power. I think once the fuel system gets sorted out and its running off the main tank again, all will be okay for whatever you decide to do to it. It did get a pack rat under the hood too for a while. We repaired a few wires to get it up and running again. It wasnt near as bad as we expected. INTERIOR: take a look at the pics, this probably has the most wear and tear on the car, but keep in mind its 30+ yrs old in Az. But luckily the car has been garaged most of its life too, so even the dash pad is good. WHILE IN HIBERNATION the car DID get a few pack rats living inside. The carpet is old and worn anyways, but my first suggestion would be to replace or really clean the floor carpets. Headliner finally started coming apart too. Front seat has a tear in one of the seams too. Other then all that, check out the pics, most of the interior is very presentable. I cant get ANY of the PW to move, but my guess its a power wire or maybe relay or fuse. Ill try to look into that this week. Ive looked UNDER the front dash for pack rat wiring damage and could see none, which was a surprise. Most of the pack rat smell is gone, but we put Carpet fresh deodorizer on the carpets to help alleviate the smell, and its helped alot. EXTERIOR: the body is pretty clean on a car this old. Very straight for the most part from front to back, but both front fenders do have minor damage. There really is NO rust to speak of on the body or floors at all, except for one small area behind the PS rear wheel. Other then that, it is your typical low rust and rot Az southwest survivor vehicle. Glass is all good too. The faux wood is in really nice shape too, but in person you can see some of the flaws better from age. Chrome on the bumpers and trim in very nice shape too. SUSPENSION: the suspension feels nice and normal . and the tires are in decent shape too, we just put a brand new tire on the RF of the car due to a non repairable puncture. No weird noises coming from the car while gliding down the road, but Im sure its going to need some bushings replaced in the future because its not restored and of its age but keep in mind, the older last owner, always fixed stuff when it needed to be done like clockwork before it was parked. At least for now once some things are fixed it may be okay enough the way it is to ride around town, I dont see any reason why not. Check out ALL the pics below -----> it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have a slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra scroll bar on the right side. Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az and NM are very dry climate. more info AFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics. There you have it, probably The BEST represented Wagons on Ebay. Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you appreciate them. We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows. I honestly see some other ads with crappy pics in them and cant believe people even are bidding on their cars... with our ads, you get the best pics possible ~! People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end. Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these days speaks volumes. This is one of the MOST RUST FREE CARs we have sold over the years, its still better then most out there for sale or bondo-ed up to look restored. I can tell you though, if you look down the sides of this car on both Sides, I dont see tons of waves running down the body like some cars Its still so clean, If the car doesnt sell, Im okay with that too because Id love to keep it its that nice. Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers. Email us with ANY questions before you bid please Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. We show you as much feasibly possible via pics. Dont let auctions with little to no pics try to fool you. If they cant take the time to take pics of areas under the car they are selling, maybe its not the best car to buy long distance. With other auctions, you really dont know what to expect until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVER with great pics to help making your decision easier. Along with ANY other questions you may have. Email me for a quote for shipping. CLEAR TITLE IN HAND Keep in mind, this is not a restored car !! CAR MUST BE PICKED UP WITHIN 14 days of auctions END ! we can no longer store cars for anyone !! Unless other arrangements have been made before auction ends. Can help with shipping outside the USA too if you need help. But keep in mind, the car cant ship until you get your title from us in hand. On a car like this, I cant really see it making any difference, I know it was never in a flood or MAJOR accident.. it is what it is, but I had to update the ad today when I foundout. The reserve is so low already on the car its still a great deal for someone who loves old wagons. On Feb-10-16 at 16:56:40 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE: as of this afternoon (2/10) the factory mechanical fuel pump has been pumping fuel from thetank like its suppose to. No plugs or clogs, it filled up a Qt size container in less then a minute !! yeah !!Im going to remove the electric pump tomorrow and reconnect the factory linesand take it on a test drive. But Im about 95% sure it will be running off the stockgastank and system by tomorrow afternoon !!!
