Vehicle Detail
Beautiful, nearly perfect condition 2001 Honda Goldwing in original deep wine red color. Low, low 28K miles on this jewel of the touring world, so you're getting a nearly new condition bike for about 1/3rd the price. AM/FM radio, intercom, auxiliary input, cruise control. Here's the marketspeak: Already legendary for luxury, Gold Wing designers spiced things up with race-bred brakes, suspension and aluminum frame technology. The goal, so say Honda officials, was to please stalwart Gold Wingers while also attracting younger riders. So is the new 'Wing a winner? The Gold Wing—winner of countless Cycle World "10 Best" awards since 1976—uses a SOHC flat-Six engine that makes 103.9 creamy-smooth horsepower and 111.5 ft.-lbs. of torque when we dynoed it. It’s bolted into a sporty twin-spar aluminum frame that puts 66.4 inches in between the axles. Linked brakes slow things down and air-adjustable rear suspension (with non-adjustable fork) holds everything up. First impressions are lasting ones, and the ‘Wing doesn’t disappoint. The seat is supportive and spacious (and it stays that way for a long time—I didn’t get sore for 1500 miles). The reach to the ground is reasonable, even for my 5-foot-6 frame, and the pegs are low. It’s like an Aeron chair with 110-mph casters. The motor spools up quickly and the controls, although having an aircraft-cockpit-like appearance, are intuitively designed and easy to figure out, even without reading the lengthy manual. It’s also easy-handling. The steering is pleasantly neutral, and the whole bike feels light. The bike’s handling prowess is not surprising: Honda’s goal was to build a giant sportbike. Judging by the way the bike handles turns, flicks from side to side—yes, flicks—and lunges out of turns in top gear, I’d say big H did it. But Honda also wanted a supreme tourer with ultimate wind protection, comfort and storage capacity. The adjustable screen and jumbo fairing create a quiet pocket of air for a wide range of riders, while great ergonomics make 800-mile days less torturous. Add to this the fact that there is 33-plus gallons of storage space that lets you take all your stuff with you. The sound system is very good—six speakers booming out your favorites tunes distortion-free even through a full-face helmet and earplugs. Bike has been well-loved since new. All maintenance done on this super low mileage work of art. I'm the second owner, I bought it 3 years ago with 18K miles and did a "fly and ride"...home to TN from CA. What a wonderful ride...super-memorable! Washed and waxed regularly; paint is still lustrous and beautiful, and always kept covered in the garage and on the Battery Tender. Of our 3 bikes, it gets the least attention, but only because almost all my riding is commuting...no time for day riding or distance touring. What a shame!! :-( Comes with 2 matching HJC IS33 helmets with intercom system. Will pick up at Nashville, TN airport for a fly and ride, or meet up to 200 miles away from Nashville to help with trailering. Save MANY thousands on this rolling beauty...you will love it!
