Vehicle Detail

This is the car that started my obsession with the automobile and in particular MOPARs. I actually remember the day it was picked up new from the dealership by my father when I was four years old. He never did allow for my ownership of the car until very recently at which point I told him he might as well sell it. He prepared the following narrative of the car shortly before he died on Tuesday, December 15. "I am the original and only owner of this car. It was ordered from Capital City Dodge, Columbus, Ohio and delivered on June 5, 1968. Options ordered: 383 CID 4BBL engine, AC, AT, PB, PS, Vinyl Roof, Light Package, Radio, Disc Brakes, Console, Tinted Glass, Wood Grain Steering Wheel, Undercoating, HD shocks. and Chromed Road Wheels. It was driven by my wife and I until placed in storage October 1979 with 92,227 miles on the odometer. The plan was to give this car to our son when he became of driving age, but didn't happen when we realized this was not an ideal car for a new driver. While in storage maintenance was performed as time allowed: Some of the factory undercoating on the floor pan was falling off. The pan was solid with minor surface rust in a few areas. It was sand blasted, painted, and undercoated. The disc brake calipers and master cylinder were sleeved and new rear axle brake lines, wheel cylinders, and brake shoes installed. The fan clutch, power brake booster, and power steering pump have been rebuilt, and new water and fuel pump installed. A new AC compressor seal was installed, but the system is not charged. The radiator and heater core are leak free. The transmission gasket drips some fluid, and the last time the car was driven the fuel gauge quit working. The tires are new P205/70R 14 B.F. Goodrich Silvertown Radials. "The paint is original except for the right side door which was repainted to eliminate door dings, and the top of the right rear fender near the sail panel. It had suffered a small ding during factory shipment and was repaired by the dealer but after 47 years the paint has cracked some. The car is rust free except for small areas on the lower portion of the rear fenders. "This is an extremely clean, all original (except maintenance items), one owner car. Never teenager driven, wrecked, or modified except for a capacitive discharge ignition system. The car was driven some during the summers of 2012 and 2013. The odometer now shows 92,629 miles." And there you have it. I guess now that he's gone I can finally drive it if I want but I am going to offer it for sale. He was always afraid if I had it I would spend too much money restoring it. I must admit he was probably right as evidenced by the 1967 Charger I am also listing. On Dec-21-15 at 14:20:25 PST, seller added the following information: I have received many requests in the last 24 hours to come look at the car. Unfortunately, this might be difficult to arrange before auction's end. Perhaps it would be better if I run the auction at another time. Should the winning bidder find the car is not what they were expecting, as far as I am concerned they don't have to buy it.
