This was supposed to be picked up and paid for today but the guy didn't show up so it is relisted.This car runs and drives nicely & the brakes are working well. It will make someone a really nice driver with a repaint. It is also a good start to a street rod type build if desired. I just got this car recently and thought I would repaint it this winter. My wife said neither she nor the kids will ride in this with no seat belts.. I found another 57 with good paint and a bolt in roll cage with belts so I have to get this one sold. This car spent it's entire life in Monmouth IL where it was sold new. The 3rd owner worked at the local Chevy dealer where he restored it in 1985 with new rockers, quarters and original style interior. I have a few old pictures of the restoration that show the new rockers and lower quarters. More recently, the car has had a brake job with new wheel cylinders, new fuel tank and sending unit along with various small mechanical repairs. The floor and frame are solid but covered in undercoat. There is some rust on the outer center frame braces where the body mounts. There are several images of the frame and floors below. All GM parts were supposedly used on the car with the exception of the right rear bumper, which is aftermarket. That piece has peeling chrome and needs to be replaced. For about the last 10 years this car was sitting in a barn under a car cover. Moisture got under the paint and popped it in many places and blistered all over the car. I picked off the paint in several places to be sure it is metal under the paint and not body filler. This is really a solid car that just needs stripped down and painted. It is not full of body filler. The interior is holding up well but does have some staining on the passenger door panel as shown. The headliner is original and also has some stains. The stainless all looks really nice. All the chrome looks like it will polish up nicely except for the right rear bumper. The engine is still running strong and the powerglide shifts well. They are both dripping a little oil after parking it but that is to be expected. You will need to replace the exhaust. The tail pipe has separated from the muffler. The gas guage is not currently working. You can see there is still nearly full tread on the bias ply tires. Pick up in Springfield IL or use Uship or similar logistics companies to arrange shipping. The outer center frame brace on each side of the car is showing rust through. I wouldn't fuss with them unless you're doing a frame off. The under coat is about 1/4" thick on the drivers side floor pan and shows cracks where it dried out. I am not sure if they were covering up the work from adding new rockers or if the floor was rusty as well. I can pick away at some of the under coat if needed. Below you can see a hole in the inner rocker that was never repaired. The shock mounts are good and solid. I picked at the under coat to show solid metal at the shock mount. You are looking at the same mount in the picture above and below. The rocker below was new 30 years ago. It is rusty but not soft and no holes. I think it can be saved.
