Up for bid, is this beautiful and rare 1978 CHEVROLET CORVETTE L82 INDY PACE CAR 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION No Reserve ! **** We apologize for the errors in the previous listing of this car. Please see the complete update below **** This L/82 4 Speed vehicle is completely original, with the exceptions of the tires (Brand new Firestone Indy 500 series / original size replacements (P255/60R15) and the engine (overhauled to a 383 stroker / numbers match). All the original engine parts are included (**Please see smog legal info below**). I have also installed a true, dual exhaust Borla muffler system, but will include the original factory parts to convert back to smog legal (with the exception of the catalytic converters. This baby screams and will outrun any other C3 Vette and probably most others and is truly a fun car to drive. Original mileage is 66,007 on the car. The newly overhauled engine only has about 500 miles on it. The car itself is in good to very good condition for its age. The original paint is good with a few nicks, here and there. But overall, the paint and original decals look great and the interior, with original leather seats and 25th anniversary interior accents, is clean and in great condition. All the gauges work, with the exception of the clock. An AM/FM cassette player was installed, replacing the original CB radio (also included with the sale) and the A/C has been retrofitted to R134A. As just the 3rd owner, I have the original sticker, owner's manual, and both the factory service manual and wiring diagram. Also included is a supreme custom fit cover for this car. The Corvette was first chosen as an official Pace Car for the Indianapolis 500 in 1978 and there were only 6,502 of these Indy Car replicas manufactured; finding one that is in good or better condition, is getting harder and harder. You won't be disappointed with this car. PLEASE NOTE : Because this car is not smog legal in many states, including California, please check your local laws. I will not sell this car to any buyers in California (it has been exempt in a clean air county, but cannot be registered by a new owner without a smog certificate – it will not smog as currently overhauled). The transportation of the vehicle is the sole responsibility of the buyer, as are all costs associated with it. A $1000.00 non-refundable deposit is due from the winning bidder within 48 hours of the end of the auction and the balance is due in full, within 10 days of the end of the auction.
