Vehicle Detail

Used, restored 1976 Ford Torino with "Starsky & Hutch" paint scheme. This car did not come from the factory as a Starsky & Hutch car; it is a "clone." The car has appeared at local car shows and parades, and attracts lots of attention whenever it is driven. The usual comments are "nice car," or "hey, Starsky & Hutch!" The Torino is a lot of fun to drive and is fairly quick for street-driven car its size. However, it weighs about 4,400 pounds, and by today's standards, has very bad fuel economy. The car was professionally appraised last year, and received an overall condition rating of "Sound" (good). I will include a copy of the detailed appraisal report with the car. It would be difficult to find a buyer who truly appreciates the value of this car, so I expect to sell the car for less than its appraised value, which is also less than the amount I have invested in the car. I am selling this car because I have more cars than I need right now. This Torino went through a frame-off restoration and modification (resto/mod) about eight years ago. The car has been driven less than 8,000 miles since the resto/mod work was completed. I did nearly all of the restoration and modification work myself, so I am very familiar with the car. Please feel free to ask questions about the car before you bid. The following items comprise some of the restoration work that was done to the car: Frame and other chassis components stripped, primed, and paintedAll new bushings in front and rear suspensionsAll new springs and shock absorbersNew ball joints, tie-rod ends, idler arm, and steering armRemanufactured steering box & power steering hoses New brake wheel cylinders, master cylinder, brake booster, calipers, and other brake hardwareNew brake shoes, rotors, and padsNew brake hoses, lines, & proportioning valve New wheel bearings & sealsRear axle assembly (Ford 9") rebuilt with new gears, new bearings, new differential, and new seals Engine rebuilt (blueprinted & balanced): cylinders bored 0.020" over, valve job, head mating surfaces machined.New engine parts: bearings, freeze plugs, oil gallery plugs, camshaft, re-ground crankshaft, pistons, rings, fuel pump, water pump, oil pump, harmonic balancer, timing chain & gears, valves, intake manifold, lifters, pushrods, rocker arms, seals, and gasketsNew engine and transmission mounts Transmission professionally rebuilt. It does not presently have a catalytic converter, and would probably not pass emissions testing. Here in Florida, we don't do emissions testing. Because the car is technically not emissions legal, it is "for off-road use only." It would be possible to install a catalytic converter and tune the car to pass emissions testing. However, this would be at your expense, and is not included with this auction. Known Defects/Issues There are several areas where the paint has been touched up.There is a scratch on the rear bumper that has been covered with silver paint. The paint and bodywork on the car were done more than eight years ago. There are now several areas, e.g., below the rear window, in the trunk, and near the left rear wheel opening, where there are small rust spots. The car was originally equipped with A/C, but the compressor, condenser, TXV, and other parts are not presently installed on the car, so the A/C is not functional. I do have some used parts for the A/C system that I will include with the car, but I have not checked/tested the parts, so they would be transferred to the winning bidder as is.Please understand that this car is 40 years old, and it is not perfect, but it is in great condition considering its age!
