I am selling my 1980 Mercedes-Benz Euro 500SL. This car was imported by Porsche Imports in Colorado and has the desirable Euro front/rear bumpers, aluminum hood, aluminum trunk, rear lip spoiler, four speed automatic transmission, and 5.0L V8 with 231 HP. I test drove a number of R107 SLs (560SL, 380SL, and 450SL), but none of them is as powerful as this 500SL. I purchased the car earlier this year from an older couple, who used the car sparingly. The car has always been adult-owned/driven and only taken out on the weekends or in nice weather. I kept it garaged at all times. This car has an active Utah Vintage Plate, and was recently renewed in September of 2015. The car is in very good condition. Engine pulls strong and smooth without hesitation. Transmission is very smooth and hold gears in D, 3, 2, and B. The car was repainted in a good quality repaint. No leak on engine and transmission. The car came with rare factory rear seat option. The car was serviced last month (new spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, fuel pump). Interior is in very good shape with flawless carpets, headliners, and rear seat. It includes 100% original Mercedes-Benz Tool Bags, First Aid Kit, and Emergency Triangle in flawless condition. The car has no door dings. Minor Issues The car has intermittent cold start issue, which is attributed to Fuel Distributor needing clean-up according to my mechanic. Dashboard has two minor cracks. Rust in two spots (spare tire area and surface rust on radiator support). Driver seat can use a leather dye or keep it for patina. Convertible top needs to be reupholstered. Passenger door does not open (it will be resolved).
