Vehicle Detail
1976 Jeep Cj7 Here is a really nice, collectible Jeep Cj7 with an original 304 AMC V8, automatic transmission, power steering/brakes, and lock-out hubs. It is what I'd describe as in extremely good condition: the engine runs and pulls strongly, the brakes pull evenly, and the four wheel drive system functions well. I purchased the vehicle 7 or so years ago for my wife to drive around our ranch and it has been driven very sparingly and maintained by either me or my assistant. The reason I'm selling it is that it simply is not being used enough (as my wife prefers my Polaris RZR!) and it's time to let someone else enjoy this classic Jeep. I found this Cj7 via ebay from a seller in Utah, which explains the rust-free nature of the body and undercarriage. This is truly a vehicle that could be driven every day right now if one wished. Mechanical: I don't know about the previous history of this vehicle but can say, as a knowledgeable casual/enthusiast mechanic, that it's in great mechanical condition. The engine has very likely been rebuilt at one time or another in its 40 years: it has excellent compression, doesn't smoke, and runs strongly. It's very original, right down to the 2 barrel carburetor and both intake and exhaust manifolds. Of course the air cleaner is an aftermarket item, and the single exhaust is in fine shape and has a slightly throaty note. The automatic 3-speed transmission shifts smoothly, and the 4-wheel drive performs flawlessly. The power brakes work well too. As you can see in the photos, the tires are in good condition. Obviously this Jeep has been slightly lifted, but not being an expert I cannot say exactly how much over stock it rides. Electrically, everything works with the exception of the horn. A few years back I installed a marine-grade radio and speakers, and it functions well. Cosmetics/Body: The paint is in very good condition. Like the engine, it has been redone at one point in the same factory color. As you can see in the photos, there is some lifting on both lower sides of the front fenders. I've run a magnet all over the body and it sticks everywhere, leading me to believe that there has never been any body damage. The underside is extremely clean. There is some slight surface rust but that's it, and absolutely zero pitting anywhere. A few years back I had the rhino-lining professionally applied. It looks new in person and really looks good with the tan seats. The seats are in great shape, with no rips or tears in the original upholstery, and no sagging. A few of the plastic knobs for rake adjustment are AWOL, but I imagine they could be sourced relatively easy. All glass is excellent, as is the removable hardtop. There is very slight surface rust on the center caps of the aftermarket wheels. I have no clue what brand these are, as they were on it when I bought it. There is no spare wheel. Summary: Here is an opportunity to acquire a very collectible, largely original Cj7 in great shape. I have described everything to the best of my abilities; see my feedback and bid with utmost confidence. A clear title conveys to the new owner. If you have any questions please ask. Please no zero, low, or high negative feedback bidders, and no foreign bidders. And please no offers for trades, I simply have no space for more toys! The auction will run to its end, so please forsake asking me otherwise. $1000 deposit due within 48 hours, the remainder to be paid via wire or cashier's check only. Thank you.
