Vehicle Detail

1968 Corvair Monza Convertible http://68corvair.com/I bought this car in 2012, and I have enjoyed every minute of owning it. Below is the description of the vehicle as written by the previous owner.Previous owner: For sale My 1968 Corvair Monza convertible.Between 1962 and 1964 over 90,000 Corvair convertibles were produced and between 1965 and 1967 over 50,000 were made. 1968 Production was slashed to under 1,400 Convertibles and less than 500 in 1969. There are not a lot of 1968 Corsair’s left.I started restoring this car about 3 years ago. The Paint is a 8, Chip Foose being a 10 and Earl Shieb a 2. It has been in many local Car shows and parades in the Southern California area.If you buy this car, you can be at a car show with it the next day and get good mileage driving it there. It was originally a 110 hp automatic and was upgraded to a 140hp 4speed car. I had a 1966 parts car I used to get what I needed for this car. The engine block from the 1968 was completely rebuilt and is original to the car.It had very little rust and was a very clean car to begin with. Any rust was removed and replaced with new metal. Very little bondo. The color is Chrysler cool Vanilla, The Interior was taken out of a 2009 Chevy Malibu Lt with the leather option. The seats are both heated and 7 way fully electric. The Console and shifter are from the same Malibu. A professional Upholstery shop installed the interior including the dash, door panels, convertible top, new electric top motor and boot cover. Over 4000.00 in Upholstery alone. It has 16″ American Racing wheels. Electronic ignition, Electric fuel pump New master cylinder, New shocks, front and rear disk brakes, braided lines, new bushings, tie rods, new clutch, throw out bearing etc. I’m sure I did not list everything I replaced so ask me questions anytime. This car is 44 plus years old so I want to be clear on what’s been done and what’s not. It has the original am radio with a fm box under the dash, which looks great and works okay. The convertible top to window seals have not been installed and is about 300 bucks, I have never needed them. The speedo does not work correctly, speed flutters a little and mileage is stuck at 70,000. I don’t think the mileage is more than 73,000.The heater and emergency brake were not reconnected after the restoration due to exhaust (headers) and brake modifications (rear Disc brakes). I leave it parked in gear and have never had a problem. Having said that,This car is awesome it drives like a modern car, stops on a dime, drives at 65+ on the freeway all day long , has plenty of power, gets great mileage and handles extremely well, This car eats up twisty roads better than most modern sports cars. The interior shows extremely well. People approach me at gas stations, supermarkets and car shows wanting to look and talk about it. You will not see another Corvair like this any time soon. Changes made since I bought the car in 2012Had Buckskin Convertible top and boot professionally installed, (The top was white with a dark brown boot when I bought the car).Added new weather stripping between side windows and the top but not the windshield to convertible top seal because it is already a very tight fit and not necessary.I had the gold wrap professionally applied down the center of the hood, trunk and rear spoiler. 3M Scotchprint wrap film Gold 1080-BR241. http://www.metrorestyling.com/3M-Scotchprint-1080-Brushed-Metal-Vinyl-Wrap-s/17010.htm (this wrap can be safely removed if it is not something you like.)Installed Re-chromed door handles.Added vintage looking AM/FM radio with hideaway/Power Antenna and new speakers.Added LED Dash Instrument panel cluster gauges bulbs and replaced green turn arrows.Driven less than 1000 miles since 2012I love everything about this car and I hate to let it go, but my Dr said the Arizona sun has taken its toll on my skin and if I have to put that top up, I might as well let someone else enjoy this drop top.
