Vehicle Detail
Extremely complete and original 1968 Dodge Charger, numbers matching throughout, in running condition. One owner last 42 years, regularly driven, strong engine, last passed Colorado air emissions test in 2011, good oil pressure, no smoking or blowby, doesn't overheat. Carburetor should probably be rebuilt, as fuel check valve is failing, making for hard starting when car has been sitting for awhile. Transmission shifts like it should, lights, horn, turn signals, wipers all work. Glass is excellent except for driver's door, which has vertical scratches on outside from door frame. Radio produced static sound from speaker when I tried it, but I cannot fully test w/o good antenna. Heater works, speedometer works, clock does not. Not working: air conditioner, pulley has been bypassed; vacuum-based controls, including hvac and headlight doors; passenger-side door, which is jammed closed. The previous owner made DIY attempts over many years to deal with the rust and keep the car functional - most of the outer body panels have sheet metal patches riveted in and covered with primer, for example. I had hoped to restore this car while driving it, but the scope of the metal work that will be required is too great for me to handle. It will be an extensive project, but for a Charger-knowledgeable restorer, the completeness of the car will save a huge amount of time and money trying to acquire all the needed rare and and expensive original trim parts and accessories. Car is sold as-is, where-is, with no warranties except good title. Deposit of $1000 is required, by PayPal, within 24 hours of auction end. The balance is due within 7 days of auction end, by cash, wire transfer, or bank (not personal) check. If payment of balance is by check, funds must clear before transfer of title and possession. Car must be removed within 21 days of auction close. The car is also available for sale locally and I reserve the right to terminate this auction early if there is a prior local sale.
