Vehicle Detail
Ford Ranger XLT 1996 with a professionally rebuilt engine and a transmission from a Ford Explorer. The engine was rebuilt about 60,000 miles ago or less and the transmission probably has about the same amount of miles on it, though the odometer is at 242,385. The paperwork for the rebuild has been lost in a move, along with all the paperwork for this truck. You will have to apply for a replacement title but I think you can get one for about $20 at the same time you go in to get a little temp registration sticker for the back window to drive it around at first. The registration has run out and I think it will need to be smogged to get registered, so please read the full description. 4.0L V6 EFI. Vehicle history report available (link above). I CAN E-MAIL YOU A VIDEO OF THE ENGINE RUNNING OR ANYTHING ELSE IF YOU E-MAIL ME. THE BAD- Registration is expired- Check engine light is on and the computer says its the O2 sensor. WILL NEED to fix this before it can pass smog for registration. Or maybe you can just unplug the check engine bulb, I don't know.- The headliner cloth is totally tattered (see picture)- The shifter indicator doesn't move so it always says its in park.- The power lock keychain needs a new battery, and the button on the driver's side door doesn't work for the locks. Passenger side and keychain do.- All the paperwork is lost so no pink slip or info on the rebuild- The overdrive is disconnected because the wire terminal from the Explorer transmission doesn't match. It can be rewired to get that to work.- Was a smokers car. I left the windows open for a couple months now but really it needs to be vacuumed out.THE GOOD- A mechanic bought the truck and rebuilt the engine before he sold it to the current owner, the paperwork was lost but when you start the truck its pretty clear that the engine doesn't have 240,000 miles on it. It doesn't burn through oil or clack like crazy, it idles really well and runs really well. I can show you this in person or I can send you a video through e-mail.- The automatic transmission also works great and probably has 50 or 60 thousand miles on it. It came out of 1998 Explorer that hardly had any miles on it (though the wiring harness didn't match exactly).- Its an XLT so it has the power windows and power locks- Good stereo (no picture but its an aftermarket CD player)- Good tires! only about a year old- Optional camper shell that I have too. It's a factory shell in good shape with matching paint. If the buyer is interested I can get it from storage and add it on for another $200.- It runs really well and is actually reliable. It can go on the freeway without the overdrive but if you drive far you'll probably want to fix it. Really solid work truck that I don't have time to get smogged and registered so I'm selling. Has the extended cab with a jump seat back there. You can come check it out just e-mail me with questions. I have a bill of sale made up for it which you'll need to take to the DMV to start the paperwork. I WOULD PREFER CASH UPON PICKUP, but I could take Paypal or even a Credit Card if you e-mail me first and make arrangements.
