1998 BMW 740il I recently purchased this vehicle as a back up to my Porsche 928S currently under restoration. Shortly after the purchase I heard the clanking noise from the right side of the engine and it was diagnosed with the timing chain guide in need of replacement (see photos). I started the replacement process and completed half the procedure for replacement but as I am short on time completing the final phase of restoration on 928S I decided to sell BMW it as is. The front of the engine is clear as I removed all the necessary components (thermostat, alternator,shroud, fan, etc.) and stored them in the trunk. I estimate the repairs to complete the job at this stage to be about $300.00 parts and labor included. The rest of the car is in great shape with a complete recent tune up and new low profile tires on 19 inch rims. The tires and rims alone cost $1200. In addition, there are two monitors installed in both front head rests for rear passenger viewing. Also, there are two dings in the rear trunk (see photos). The body is in good condition with small dings in several locations which is normal with the age of the car. Also the front passenger side seat (bottom portion) leather seat seams are open but repairable. Engine compression is good in all cylinders so I do not expect any problems after the guide replacement. The car drives very strong and everything else interior and exterior works perfect. I rather have the car picked up for free but I do not mind shipping it to your location. All shipping cost associated with transferring it to your your location is the responsibility of the buyer. The car is sold in AS IS condition with no return.
