Vehicle Detail
*******NO RESERVE******Up for auction today is a rare Mercedes Benz 380 SLC. For those not familiar, the 380 SLC was the last of the SLC line and made only one year with the fuel saving 3.8 liter engine. USA production numbers are around a mere 1500, so this is a rare car sure to appreciate. This particular example has always resided in northern California in the San Francisco Bay Area, and as such, there is no rust on this car. It also boasts it's original paint which still looks quite nice. The black on black example, which this one is, is also the model chosen that year to be the 'poster child' for that years USA model line up sales brochure. The 380 SLC was the most expensive car offered that year at almost $47,000! There are the requisite little scratches one would expect on a 34 year old paint job, but we really are talking minor here and I for one believe that they can be buffed out. The black factory leather is in very good shape. The previous owner put sheep skins on the front seats that have now faded to a blueish black color but are enormously comfortable. The leather underneath is fine. Everything works with the exception of the right rear passenger window, down to the clock and the A/C! Great headliner and dash has no cracks. Aftermarket Sony CD player works fine. Wood has no cracks or varnish issues. The car has era correct Michelin tires and there is roughly 80% tread still left. Chrome bundt wheels (set of 5) does show some pitting and the louvered fins in the rear quarter windows have the typical peeling, although one side is quite minimal in this. The car recently had a new fuel distributor and idle control unit placed on in and it drives superbly. None of the quaking and shaking that you see on some high mileage cars, but a very smooth idle at stoplights and responsive power upon acceleration. Overall a very nice last year SLC in well preserved condition that needs very little to be collector quality. Personalized license plates DO NOT transfer with car and I have both original keys. Please ask any questions prior to submitting your bid. I reserve the right to end the auction early as this car is advertised for sale locally in the SF bay area. Thank You for your interest. p align="center">
