Vehicle Detail

Normal.dotm 0 0 1 769 4388 HIS Professionals, LLC 36 8 5388 12.0 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false An all-original 1969 “Sandcast” Honda CB750, probably one of the finest specimens in the country, and maybe in the world (including Vic’s!). I bought it 30 years ago from the original owner, a schoolteacher in Chicago, who kept it as immaculately as I have ever since. Best part - it is a rider, not a trailer queen, with 24,535 miles as of the day of listing. By the time you buy it, it may well have a hundred more as I ride it every month or two to keep it running as perfect as it looks. The chassis (VIN) # is 374 and engine # is 379: very low out of ≈50,000 Honda made that first year. If you check the Sandcast web site (cb750sandcastonly) and scan the registry, you’ll see this one listed as number 18, with surprisingly close numbers for the chassis & engine – only 5 numbers apart. Honda shipped engines & chassis in separate crates to be assembled in California back then, resulting in most CB750s having chassis & engine numbers hundreds of numbers apart. On the other side of the engine block from the engine #, are the numbers “4.7,” which means the block was cast in its sand mold on April 7, 1969. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The pictures show most of the details below: • All the key Sandcast features are there: cut front fender, wrinkle tank, horn on the left, recessed ignition switch (with 2 original keys), un-numbered exhaust pipes (no HM300s), smooth mirror tips, black kill switch, un-finned oil cover, Koito headlight, frame notch for a steering damper (which Honda never installed), etc. • Includes the original owner and shop manuals, with handwritten notes on tune-ups and oil changes from the 1970s, proof of the bike’s authenticity. A collector in Germany asked me to scan pages of the original owners manual (titled as a “General Description”) because it alone is so rare… • The original paint started to fade back in the 1990s, (the tank faded to orange and the side covers to pink) so I had it re-painted by Blake Conway in California, who does all of Vic World’s paint for his OEM parts CB750s, with the original paint #s specified by Honda. • All parts are original except the usual maintenance items: tires, battery, plugs, chain, etc. Since it’s a rider, I had a pointless ignition system installed (starts & rights great!) and I will include the original points if you want to go back to pure stock. I replaced the clutch a few years ago, but the engine case had never been cracked (and if the right person buys it, never will be…). • The only visible flaw on the bike is a slight tear on the right front of the duck-tail seat cover (see picture), which the original owner had stitched back in the 1970s and I have left alone. Also, the head gasket weeps a tiny bit – common to most old CB750s – about a drop every hundred miles. Not worth cracking this original engine case for. • Only major replacement parts are the exhausts: the original inners rusted out in the early 2000s, so I bought a set of Lotus-Roots from Yamiya in Japan (for over twice what the original bike cost!) that look and sound perfect. I only run ethanol-free premium gas in it (you can find local ethanol-free gas stations at pure-gas.org) and have changed the oil & filter every year for 30 years. • One other non-stock item: the bike has become so valuable that I had a Lojak alarm installed so if anyone ever tries to move it without the key, you get alarms on your cell phone, home phone & email address. Appropriate for its value and quite effective as you cannot even move it even a few feet in your garage without the key, or the alarms start. Everything on this bike works perfectly: engine, trans, lights, gauges, horn, clutch, brakes, etc. Amazingly fast for “only” a 750 cc – I’ve surprised quite a few crotch-rockets in my monthly rides. And the Lotus-Roots exhausts sound superb – well worth the small fortune they cost! It’s been garaged for the entire 30 years I've owned it, has never boon ridden in the rain (and I hope never will be…), and has won awards at many bike shows including: Mid-Ohio, Barber, Santa Fe’s Concorso & Motorado, and Florida’s Lake Mirror Classic & Ride Into History. WARRANTY: This motorcycle is being sold AS IS, with no warranties, expressed or implied. I have a clear Florida title in hand which I’ll sign over to you once your funds clear. The bike is currently garaged at my home in Santa Fe which you’re welcome to visit to check it out. PAYMENT: Non-refundable $1,000 PayPal Deposit required within 48 hours of close of auction; full payment required within 7 days of close of auction. Payment by Bank Wire Transfer or US Bank Certified Cashier’s Check only, which must clear before you can pick up the bike and title. SHIPPING: All shipping charges and shipping arrangements are the sole responsibility of the buyer. I can provide the names and phone number of reliable US shippers I have used whose prices are very reasonable (e.g.: uShipdotcom). International buyers must make all shipping arrangements themselves – I will only let you pick the bike up from my garage: all shipping arrangements, fees, customs charges, bribes, etc., are up to you. If you have questions or need additional information or photos, please email me. Good luck bidding on this beauty and I hope whoever wins takes equally good care of it for the next 30 years.
