Vehicle Detail
For your consideration is a 1983 Ferrari 308 GTS Quatrovalvole. The car is an excellent example of a driver car with modern updates to make it more reliable. It is painted in "Rosso Corsa FER 300" (Ferrari Red). I have owned the car for 4 years, and I estimate the car has been repainted at some point in its life, possibly during a complete restoration. The interior is in tan and black. The exterior paint job has some slight blemishes and scratches I have tried to accurately photograph. It looks stunning, but you will notice during a hand wash and wax that there are some imperfections and swirls. The interior is in good shape, with the exception of a rip in the leather around the emergency brake. All gauges and dials work, but the clock adjustment needs repair. The seats are in great shape, with very little visible wear. The body and frame are typical of an Arizona and Southern California car, no sign of corrosion or rust. On 4/29/2011 at 63,396 miles the car had the following items serviced: -Idle adjusted -Installed new Brake Master Cylinder and brake booster -Brakes bled -Engine Timing Belts replaced -New Clutch pressure plate and disk installed -Rear Main seal replaced -Hand brake adjusted -A/C system vacuum tested and freon added -Repaired coolant expansion tank -Fuel hose replaced All fluids have been replaced within the last month. The A/C system appears to need more freon, as it is not blowing cold in the current 110 degree High Desert temperatures. The alternator belt was replaced shortly after I purchased the vehicle. The spare tire is present as is the battery cover under the front hood. Upgrades Include: Aftermarket Ferrari 16" 308 (Non-Metric) rims. Tires have plenty of tread remaining. Birdman Fuse Box Upgrade (Original Fuse Box included with sale) Modern Stereo with Amplifier and Speakers Reproduction Coolant overflow tank Window accelerators What the car needs: Both passenger and driver side windows are slow to close. I replaced the regulator with a new, aftermarket regulator on the driver side, and it did not improve the window speed. It is most likely a voltage drop that can be corrected with a relay. I'm including the original window regulator for the driver side and a new regulator for the passenger side. The car includes the original manual, but not the original tool roll. As mentioned before, there is a rip around the handbrake. One of the headlights sometimes does the infamous "winking headlight" at night. It can be repaired by installing a resistor or stopped simply by exiting the vehicle and holding the headlight in place for a moment. The air pump has been removed to recover some of the lost horsepower from the 1980's emissions standards, but the original air pump and belt is included as provided to me by the previous owner (I have never installed the air pump). If registering in California, the air pump will likely need to be installed prior to emissions testing. I have records dating back approximately 10 years, but the car is not fully documented from new. The car has spent its entire life in the South West US (Arizona and Southern California). The car is currently registered and titled in Maryland under a military/government exemption, but it has not left Southern California since I've owned it. I am not desperate to sell the car. I recently became a single father and need to adjust some priorities. I own six cars right now and spending time maintaining what I have is not as high a priority as it once was. The 308 has had the most rapid appreciation in value of all classic cars over the past year. This car is a 1983 Ferrari. As such, there are no warranties expressed or implied. This vehicle is sold as is, where is. Pre-purchase inspections are highly encouraged.
