Vehicle Detail

Hello, I've taken pictures of every conceivable angle on this wagon in hopes of giving anyone interested a good idea about the condition. Over-all I would say it's a 8.5/10 scale exterior, interior and 9.5/10 engine/drivetrain. A clean daily driver condition (not a store in a heated garage, wipe down with a diaper on sundays condition). For being 31 years old, it's been very well cared for. The history of it as told to me is: I'm the 3rd owner, the original owner bought it new near Boise, Idaho (a relatively high and dry climate) put 180K of the 203K it currently has on it, sold it to the person I bought it from in Portland, Oregon, who spent most of his time in Hawaii and not driving it. I bought it in Feb. of this year. My plan was to make it an adventure wagon for my family, but decided it's a little too small for what we want to do. It's one of those cars that is in such good and original condition that any flaw stands out, here are the ones I see and know of: The rubber trim around the drivers door is worn out, causing it to leak water around the door channel when it rains hard. It rains a lot on Portland, so the carpet on the drivers floor has gotten wet a lot. It hasn't rusted on the floor boards underneath ( I checked). The windshield wipers precariously come to a stop in the OFF position in the halfway across the window setting. I THINK this is because the person I bought it from installed a new wiper motor incorrectly, and/or set the wiper arms in the wrong spot. He did this one himself, was a self professed non-mechanic, usually taking it into a certified Subaru mechanic for everything from oil changes to repairs. (I have several pages of service records and a repair manual for the vehicle) Those service records are for the following: Starter replacement (2014) repair rear wiper pivot (2014) replacement of clutch (2014) and clutch cable (2014). I believe the front CV axles will need to be replaced in the future, they make a faint clicking sound when turning in either direction. From my research, this is a common issue with this era of Subaru, the axles are not expensive, easy to get online or local chain auto parts stores, and easy to install for anyone moderately inclined to auto mechanics. There are also a few small dings here and there ( I believe I covered all of them in the pictures). There are a couple of small areas of surface rust developing on the rocker panels in front of the rear wheels (see pictures please). There are two small "bulls eyes" on the windshield, they haven't spread but there none the less. The engine runs excellent, starts up right, no matter the temp or time between last running. The transmission shifts like it should and the clutch works like new (because it more/less is) the brakes work like they should without any noises, wobbles or pulling. There is evidence of some oil leaking on the bottom of the motor which my moderate mechanical skills tell me is coming from the oil pan gasket and/or valve cover gaskets. I added approx. a half quart of motor oil while driving the approx. 1500 miles from Portland, Oregon to central Minnesota last spring. From my research, Subaru of this era are prone to leaking oil. In my estimation this one isn't bad and can be addressed easily by someone who wants to make a long term commitment and interest in the car. The engine does not smoke or burn oil and runs, idles, drives down the road like the day it was sold. I got approx. 30 MPG doing 55-60 MPH while driving it home last spring. It is a 4 speed (not a 5-spd) and feels to me to be most happy at those speeds. I tried out the 4wd option before buying it and it engages and works as designed. It has a very nice, modern stereo and speakers installed well (not a dash hacking job) the dash is nothing short of stepping back in time to the 80's with all sorts of character from that era. The seats are in very nice shape and the back seat folds down flat for hauling things other than kids. The tires are in excellent shape (including the little one in the engine compartment) I would say 80-90% tread. One center wheel/hub cap is missing. It has a stock roof rack. Please review all of the pictures I'm including in the listing (I included the maximum of 24) Feel free to ask any questions. I'm most easily reached via text (or call) on my cell phone at: 5302104128 and tend not to spend a lot of time on my computer when the weather is nice. I'll try to check the listing for questions as often as possible. I'm willing and able to pick buyer up at the Minneapolis airport free of charge if flying in from out of state. I would like to keep the classic Oregon Lic. plates if possible. I have a collection of plates from various states. Edit: This wagon DOES have the hi/lo 4wd function. Thanks for looking.
